Here's a goal;

Get friends,
then make a group where you compete with each other. That's how you'll make mates/rivals in quick time. Legit have a friend group of 4 from high school that I'm still in touch with actively.
Sorry for some reason the website accidentally posted at "here's a goal; get friends" which sounds condescending but on another thought is very crucial too.

So yea BOS engine/AI tryna roast u, im not involved in that

unfortunately my friends aren't academically focused
some aren't at all.... I get more stressed about their futures than they do
Thats how bad it is

i mean a few of them are really smart but it doesn't really do much to change my. motivation or anything, also im focusing more on myself not just competing because there will always be people that are just better;
Original point being lost is the fact that --> I do not know what atar to aim for

Lol if you just want "motivation" from an atar goal then go on some atar calc and type up marks u can possibly reach e.g 95 mx2, mx1 90 eng, 95 phys, chem etc.. then see the arbitrary number and stick that on your wall then grind. It seems stupid when you think about it because its just an arbitrary thing but it'll give you a direction.

Personally I can't get motivated long term by a reward at the end, I find arbitrary stuff like "I'm gonna get X,Y for this" is only effective for something short term. Like if i complete this math q ima go eat ice cream yay. For the HSC, it was initially calculating my possible ATAR and all that bs just to give myself some feeling of direction then I'd grind.

Over time, I realised that just enjoying the days throughout the HSC was a much better reward than any end goal. When my mentality switched from I gotta do X -> I get Y to I'll just enjoy doing X. What I'm trying to say is just embrace the routine for what it is, and be motivated for another day.

Don't always focus on the big picture then you'll be overwhelmed, think of what you need to do today and how you gonna enjoy. I'm really enjoying uni despite the increased workload/time travel and other responsibilities because I'm in this mindset, I enjoy just chilling in the train, just being at lectures, talking with the boys, sleeping and so on.

And now I'm going to take the time to enjoy my sleep. Good night.

yes but i need a goal
and actual proper goal except i have no idea what marks i am capable of getting and stuff
Pick whatever career you want to do (or just one that needs a high atar to get into) and aim for that, at least then you’ll have something to aim for

for me, I was only aiming for ~95 as that was all that I needed to get for what I wanted, but I ended up doing a bit better than that.

this might seem lower than others but hoping that I get an ATAR higher than 90+ 🙏 would be fr funny to look back at this like 2 years later
Your ATAR Goal for purely academic purposes should be a personal thing. It is more about the gap in your current level to the potential you want to achieve than the arbitrary ATAR itself.

Of course before this you should factor in things like ATAR pre-requisites such as for computer science/engineering/med. Your combination is quite solid, and I can definitely seeing you achieving a high 95+ or even 99+ if you put your mind to it. Take it as a challenge to prove me right :) [Though not at the expense of your social/family life, mental health etc. , if you do, you mega fail]

yes but i need a goal

But fr I feel/felt similar
I did two subs early and my goal was like 95 (which kinda fit in with the typical atar for top of my school and stuff)
But I got the marks back and was like shit I actually should aiming for something higher cos I reckon I can do it
Bottom line for me is you never really know until you get the grades back. I was so unsure if I'd get a band 6 in ancient and then I got 96 so yk yolo it
But actually its all made me realise it doesn't matter one bit
So yah :)

I'm curious what ATAR people here are aiming for, and i guess after the hsc we can look back at this thread and compare to what ATARs people actually got
need at least an 86 for the course I'm aiming for, though 90+ would be ideal (purely for my own validation)
