I need urgent advice. (3 Viewers)

Well I was studying using the pearson chem textbook with a mix of atomi from my friend. I went pretty slowly through the content because i wanted to properly understand it rather than speed run it and have no clue what it meant.

I know this is highly unlikely, but do u reckon they would let me drop my modern history class for a period where i self study chemistry and try to catch up for the prelims? Probably not even allowed but it’s worth a try asking i guess.

it’s really not worth it. please stop putting effort into a class that you’re not even in, and likely won’t be allowed into. like someone mentioned before, it’s admirable that you’re passionate about this subject, and there’s nothing stopping you from pursuing it after highschool, but you really need to focus on what subjects you’re actually doing. i feel sad for you that they don’t seem like they’re going to let you join the class even if you do decently, but i really think you need to accept that it’s not going to happen. i’m sorry

dont give up if chem is actually important for u. situations still saveable imo. make sure u focus on high yield things

I mean the only way for me to save it is if i sit the asessment tomorrow.

I decided I may as well give the test a go. I am not bothering studying for it tbh I dont really care if I fail.
If by some miracle I even pass let alone do go alright then I guess they nay let me join.

yes, you can catch up before year 12 starts and by that point you won’t be behind ; and it seems like u really enjoy / really wanna do chem

yes! great job that’s amazing!! i know i doubted that they would let you in earlier, but im very happy for you!! i reckon definitely switch - youve put so much effort in and it’s clear this is what you want to do. plus, if you managed to beat people despite never being in the class, you definitely have potential to catch up on everything and do really well. i hope it turns out well!

Yeah the main reason is me just catching up, just scared i won’t be able to

im literally doing y11 chem rn and i believe you can catch up. trust me, i genuinely think it is possible. if you passed an exam covering 2 modules without actually being in class at all you are definitely talented enough to catch up all the content they have done so far. and if you dont catch up and do badly in y11, dont worry bc y11 doesn't count towards hsc and you can do better in y12.

So yes, they have let me switch. However I only got the change of subject forms today which need to be finalised by tomorrow.
I have been thinking it over and over in my mind and still cannot decide whether i should switch or not.

Its really annoying, because I originally wanted to switch it from modern, but can't because it is on the same line.

This is the thing, in Earth (what I need to switch from) I am getting relatively good marks 90%+ and am finding it relatively easy (I just had to sit a test for it, found it alright). I also don't mind the class, its pretty fun, but I would definitely rather do chem as I am more interested in it.

At the moment Im really scared, because joining Chemistry, I am gonna lose my good marks in Earth and am not guaranteed to do well in Chemistry which would really negatively effect me.
Also, while catching up on the chemistry content is possible, I am really scared its gonna really negatively effect my other subjects as Im not gonna be able to put enough time into them, studying chem most of the time.

While I do want to join, I am just conscious that the negatives may outweigh the positives in this case.
I really wish I made this decision last term it would of been so much easier.
Im really scared im gonna regret my choice either way..

bruh, join lmfao. only thing u needa brush up on is mole calcs and a lil mod 4 and ur basically good for yr12 content. Why on earth (pun intended) would u go through allat and not pick it in the end?
