@spiderfan44 You could probably answer this.
How much of yr 11 content for earth is involved in yr 12?
I am just thinking whether if this switch goes terribly I could join earth again for yr 12.

Although this obviously wouldn't work If i would be even more behind for earth.
i really doubt they would let you switch late into the school year.

the stuff in year 11 does relate to some of the year 12 syllabus - specifically some of module 2 (plate boundaries, plate boundaries and tectonic structures) and 3 (role of enery in earths processes, geological transformations) relates to module 6. some of module 1 relates to 8. they arent concepts that will completely stop you from being unable to understand content in yr 12, but they do help with understanding more for module 6 and being able to explain processes. they definitely are concepts you can recap on relatively quickly though

Hey guys,
I know many recommended me to just switch but tbh i’ve thought about it and i think not switching is a better option.

I really had to get through the other half of mod 2 and complete the rest of mod 3 after only learning it for 3 hours. While i probably could have caught up i feel it is a bit of a gamble and the stress associated is a lot for me.

In the end, i can always just study chem at uni with my interest in this field.

I hope this is the best option for me. I should band 6 earth in the HSC and looking at it earth actually scales decent on the high end.

Anyway, thank-you guys for ur support- It was a hard decision for me to put down the offer, but i feel it is better off for me.

Well I was studying using the pearson chem textbook with a mix of atomi from my friend. I went pretty slowly through the content because i wanted to properly understand it rather than speed run it and have no clue what it meant.

I know this is highly unlikely, but do u reckon they would let me drop my modern history class for a period where i self study chemistry and try to catch up for the prelims? Probably not even allowed but it’s worth a try asking i guess.
Theres no way dude. Prelims are right around the corner I highly doubt you can make any changes. If you need chem for your desired Uni Course try doing a bridging course? Idk if theres one for Chem tho.

I have gotten an offer to self study chemistry instead of my modern history class. Im gonna take this offer as I still get access to all the resources the chemistry class get but just have to sort of learn it myslef. I can still ask the teachers questions and stuff. I feel this is good for me as I can keep earth as my insurance and doing this I can give chem a go and see how i peform in the prelim. Depending how I go, I could drop earth and switch into the chem class for yr 12 or otherwise if it goes terribly. I just keep earth.

NOO offence to EES students but I thought I made the right decision until i got into the class and we started learning about sewage water..
What have I done.

my good sir switch if you still can, you are clearly smart and good at chem, as well as being invested in the subject. Trust me you are much better off doing a subject you enjoy than a subject you don’t. You will be more motivated to do better too

omg only do that if they’re actually gonna let you switch, pleaseeee don’t do a repeat of this whole situation. i’ve got to say, you REALLY need to address your indecisiveness issues. STICK TO PLANS, otherwise you’ll ruin both options by going back and forth - which it seems like happened here. “time for you and time for me and time yet for a hundred indecisions” except you HAVEN’T got time.

sorry to shit on you while you're in this situation but katiekms is 100% right. ive been indecisive like you before and it has cost me dearly in all aspects of my life. it kind of comes from the pressure of trying to pick the right choice, and the truth is in a lot of situations in life there is no one right choice to pick, and there are nuances to any "good" choice.

i think what helps me when im making a big decision or choosing between something is that i get the logical arguments and i lay it all out, sometimes i even write them down, and then i think about it for how much ever time i have to make that decision. and the moment when i have to make that decision, i choose something based on the facts and feelings i have, but almost impulsively in the sense that i just do it, like in a minute or two, and its done. if you make like an on the spot decision like that you dont have time to double guess yourself. and then i accept that whatever happens happens.

ive found that when you start trusting your judgement and stop overthinking it saves you a lot of stress. but yeah just my personal opinion that you didnt ask for
