I'm in year 8 picking elective subjects for year 9, and none of them interest me much, except for Japanese and "Investigative Science." I like biology, so I will most likely be doing Bio + Chem in the HSC. However it's a 2 unit accel subject taken over year 9 and 10, meaning that I will be studying year 11 + 12 content and doing the HSC in year 10 and i'm not sure how to feel about this. Has anyone taken this subject? Should I take it?
Idek how the HSC works so if i made a mistake lmk 🙏

Idk anyone who does investigating science but it seems cool doing an accel subject in year 9 and 10 cause then u can put ur whole focus in it and bludge ur other subjects. But investigating science is basically where u get to do experiments and write reports I guess and it's kinda more broad opposed to the other sciences

Seems like you are in NSG, because that’s the only school currently offering this accelerated subject and that is even for the first time.

Physics is an easy subject to accelerate. There is barely any content and it's for the most part just common sense

Mathematics Advanced is much easier and if you do band 6 it, you've secured a spot at USyd since u now have 5 extra points, which many do not get

bruh accelerating subjects is the best thing u can do, no regrets
accelerating useless subjects is a waste of time and energy though. common denominators of useless af accelerated subjects are design and technology, languages, agriculture and other useless shit.

i don't know why selective schools don't allow people to accelerate any subject they want. the only one that seems impossible for year 10s might be math extension 2, but every other subject is doable

its so the b6 rate goes up for the school, thats why schools encourage it so much.

Yeah but I don't think a school would provide acceleration for a subject if there aren't enough students taking it, and enough teachers. My school is already low enough on teachers that some teachers are teaching in multiple faculties. Also barely anyone in my grade is doing Investigating Science(I asked around), idek if theyll even run it
