im aiming for it and ur statement on the HSC being an IQ test is so retarded
no it's not. look at the victorian vce specialist math papers, u see how they are all so structured just like math advanced, i.e. learnable by practice.

all of maths is learnable by practice in the hsc, they don't ask anything that isn't in the syllabus that they give you, and isn't provided in similar scenarios in past papers and nesa samples

I mean yeah, you can understand why an option in an IQ test is the correct option... problem is actually figuring it out in the timed conditions and unseen nature, which inherently requires high IQ. Take the 2023 exams for example

yeah like the last part of the last question but its not that hard to get a mid to high e4 with reasonable study and "low IQ"

only a low E4 at the brink of an E3 would be possible with a low IQ, which obviously dependent on luck as well. I only managed to get a low band 6 in advanced with the low IQ i have

math advanced is not a very cognitively demanding subject. i still see many struggle with it, what does that say about our overall intelligence?

Hey, does anyone know the average for the NSB and Ruse Maths Ext 1 Trial 2024 and 2025? And what's a good mark to get in these papers?
Thanks

dont do nsb or james ruse their questions are way too advanced and tricky even for the hsc. atp do actual hsc questions or like lower selective school trials such as girra or penrith

https://intuitioneducation.com.au/resources/hsc-2025-predictions-hmx1 this paper is going to be brutal. There's a chance of a 4-7 mark combinatorics question like they asked in 2020 (Never done it again and has only come as a 2 marker in q11/12 after 2020). Watch out for vector and projectile questions in 13 and 14 as well (they've been somewhat easier imo in question 13).

hmm idts nsb and ruse are made up of more challenging questions, so that to some extent, itll match q14 hsc level questions. doing papers where u already know how to do everything is lowkey a waste of time imo

im not tryna tell ppl to do tests which are easy. Im just saying do papers that match the hsc difficulty. nsb and ruse go way overboard

It doesn’t necessarily have to be a problem with the student themselves. It could be the quality of teaching they receive or other circumstances that affect their ability to understand.

they're still good practice, especially when hsc decides to pull some random questions out that other schools dont test
i took a look at girra and penrith, good recommendations. thanks
