huh, I thought we had to do edutest to get into another selective school. I got into baulko but I wanted to go to JR so I did the edutest in year 8. I've never heard of hast?

From what I've heard, edutest is about speed and how quickly you can solve questions, whereas HAST is more about reasoning. The maths in HAST isn't usual "maths," it includes diagrams, data, and even a bit of science . HAST also has abstract reasoning, which is another test including puzzles and patterns. I think they added abstract reasoning to see which students are like "naturally smart" or something idk. It also has reading and writing which are pretty much the same as edutest.

I've read that HAST doesn't really test your capabilities on content you learn on school, rather they challenge your abstract reasoning. Edu-test mostly focuses on content learned at school. I haven't done it so this may not be correct...

hey, can any of you help me with HAST prep, like for writing how does it work and like what do the topics revolve around ie society, like do 2 different prompts come 1 discursive 1 creative and we get to pick which one to write, and like for maths/abstract/reading the diff topics or question types that come in the exam for the multiple choice section. also can any of u give me tips for the exam. im writing hast for penrith, 1st choice prob, then girraween second and Chatswood last for y9 entry, (y8 rn). also my y7 sem 1 was like 3a and 5b, and sem 2 I went overseas, so like 2-3a, 2d in drama and VA, and rest B, imma lock in this year for reports and am trying to participate in many extra curricular ie. band, chess club, STEM. also my naplan was all top triangle but reading which was low exceeding, and my icas math for y7 was top 5% Australia. please guide me ty. also im dedicated to doing this test, ty

yeah, but like many of the people ik who did it for middle secondary (9-10 entry) said that the questions will include science but you don't need any prior knowledge as it will be given to u, wanna work together?

Yeah I think you can definitely get in if your year 8 sem 1 report is good. As long as you don't get any C's, you can do it!! Your profile will also stand out because you got top 5% in Australia for icas.
