  • congrats :) i'm so jealous. i got 24% for maths :( and it came with a strong reccomendation from the coordinator to drop down, the just-get-out-now-and-stop-wasting-my-time sort of reccomendation.
i got 44% for chem but the course average was only 51.5% and i've gained since our last test.

however i got 72% for my analytical part and 80% for my creative part of ext. english, 85% for advanced english, 87% for bio, and 100% for the only essay i've gotten back for drama. my friend said she saw my other mark was 70% but that's 85% again. i guess i'm happy.

i'll have to study like hell for medicine though. double hard to beat the bell curves of general maths and drama and recover in chem
so how have you gone with this nightmare? the only way i could describe my mindstate now is, do you know that feeling when you wake up from a bad dream and realise it wasn't real? How you're still completely on edge but extremely relieved and thinking positively?

maybe that's just because i got around 6 hours of sleep thursday after the drama performance (the other teacher didn't seem to like our practice), and then four friday at my best friend's house between stacking it badly ice skating and leaving early yesterday morning to go to a bonfire at our friends last night, and we were still playing texas hold 'em and drinking coke at 6am this morning. i can't remember half an hour between going broke first and one of the two guys with us suggesting they leave me buried in my blanket while they ate all the croissants, so maybe i slept.

maybe i'm not so bad at all nighters :)
yes i did draw it. i'm no good at all the other practical stuff we had to do in art, so i dropped it as soon as i could. i hated drawing landscapes or dot paintings or sculptures. if it was just drawing objects, animals and people i would love to do art. i am interested in art movements and history.

i agree that a lot of people who are good at english are good at art. my art form is drama and a bit of drawing. once i have time i'm planning to draw futurama characters from the guides in the movie special features and colour them in paint, using the dropper to get the exact colours, but that will take a while and i will need to do last minute chem cramming and drama notes.

my log is going to be easy: "we were unable to block our piece in the car park, so we read over the script a few times" "too many people were away today so we discussed possible improvements but did not polish""we achieved absolutely nothing today" ect.
the thing is, i actually like working my arse off on drama. it's my hobby. and drama doesn't need hard work, just time. if only my group was as motivated as i am :( i am so worried about our performance.

i have to work my arse off for maths to catch up anyway. if i end up getting some work in for ext. 2 english then i can include that and ditch both in my atar, so i will work on all three. plus chem because that is dragging me down. argh! i shouldn't have been so lazy! bad me! (*curls up in corner hyperventilating*)

no, i am definately not an art student. yr 7/8 art was only bearable because it gave me time to talk to the guy i was crushing on, now my ex. i like drawing but we hardly ever just drew. i only just scraped through. the teachers loved my Betty Boop and Spongebob that i copied with a grid. they must be in my year 7 book, which is on my list of things to find.
thanks. i spent those few hours in the middle of today painting over an outline of my converse (i'd wear them every day if i could) i drew in paint, and then scanning more drawings for an album on this. too headachy to memorise chem crap. if i really dominate drama to make up for the scaling next year then i can leave out maths and chem for my ATAR. but when i started a thread about that public opinion was divided :(
on that key ring was my house key and my flash drive as well, but at least we found my first house key that went missing and all my english formatives are on this laptop. this is why i share lockers with my friend: i can borrow her key.

if she is away and i need to get into it i can go to the student office and ask for the master key but after a few weeks they might get suspicious and i really don't want to pay for a new key when my key is right here somewhere in this messy bedroom. i took all the books i actually use out and carry them with me to not annoy my friend too much.

the main use of the lockers at our school is ditching blazers. we're supposed to wear them at least to and from school but everyone just carries their blazer and puts it in their locker after tutor group if their tutor group teacher actually cares.
i don't like those KISS books. all science courses at our school have photocopies with clear plasic stapled as the cover, but at least we got a proper bio textbook as well which stays in my locker permanently because i lost my key
just got a phone call describing a bad crash on the freeway to Newcastle north bound, with traffic parked and people just walking around aimlessly while crash helicopters circle overhead. looks like i've got plenty of time to study after all. know any good sites with chem notes? i was looking at the resources but my laptop wanted to die when i tried to download some notes
i don't think i will have internet access in our caravan in NZ (we thought a caravan would be easier than setting up in a hotel every night) during these holidays, but he'll have his laptop with a webcam in Europe so we can use skype or msn just like always. my dad is in sydney and complains he can skype his friend in Italy better than us just a few hundred km up the coast lol.
we're getting an external test too so it's not biased, therefore closer to the HSC, but i wish it wasn't. i think i can remember stuff about graphite, diamond and bucky balls. molarity usually screws me up because i always seem to use more decimal places than everyone else. i feel that it makes it more accurate but it's matching the teacher's score that i fail with.
i have an extension english exam tuesday, chem wednesday and my drama group performance thursday but no, i'm not preparing atm. i've only got an hour before my dad's supposed to turn up to do something today. he's going to europe for work (they won't let family come :( but at least mum's taking us to NZ) so i won't see him for a couple of months so i'm going out and studying tomorrow.
and i'll write those four pages in my drama logbook and paste the draft script in when i remember to borrow my friend's key to our locker and get the stupid book. we should be practicing the piece but i'm in a group of slackers :(
i can't believe i only got three days off in these two weeks :(. most people only have six tests and get double ups, so most of my friends get at least the second week off
you're worried about maths? you will probably dominate in this test from the way you talk about your study pattern. you'll be fine :)
i only do 1u but i started with 2. i had to teach myself buddhism because it's not like the teacher can take the class back to day one just for me. he gave me all the notes. i'm happier in one unit because religion is one of those good in small doses things in my opinion, but i didn't get a choice about the switch. it was 2u + 3u math or 1u, 2u math and drama.
i wish all tests were multiple choice but i've had it drilled into me that they're harder because you've only got a 25% chance of being right.
maybe you prefer Islam for a depth study because it's more interesting to learn about what you don't know. we're twice as nervous about christianity at our school because until now tests have been more about the Bible itself, it's historical context or important individuals, not the theology from an outsider perspective if that makes any sense. it's way more technical than we're used to. the school obviously chose christianity because they're not happy they can't teach us just christianity
i'm just happy to provide comfort :) i was kinda advantaged because of the awkward timing of my switch. i almost finished Judaism in 2U when i switched to the end of Buddhism in 1U. i had to self teach myself Buddhism for the topic test. but i chose Judaism because i was more comfortabe with the Judaism extended responses we got due to a Catholic education and me used to being Catholic.
we weren't asked anything on Pentecostalism, just Christianity in general. go over personal devotion (prayer) and the importance of ethical teachings (mostly the ten commandments, the beatitudes and the commandment of love)
the worst is over. i'm actually feeling really good. maybe i shouldn't of had so much "rescue remedy"....lol! i know i'll feel even more great after two weeks caravaning around New Zealand. yay! good luck for whatever you've got next :)
yes i finished the paper. what i could finish :( awwe poor you with the chem paper. i did that on an english test and lost half my marks once. at least your maths will make up for it. i answered every question for bio and ran out of room for more than half the questions :) so i'm back on track i guess. i just need to study so i don't throw away chem marks next wednesday
Thanks for yr kind comments. I'm no math genius. But I should know some school-level maths having majored maths @ uni so very long ago. Good luck in yr study for the HSC next yr.
my maths was epic fail today, just like i expected. i borrowed a friend's excell book this morning but it was written completely different to the school textbook :( i only answered half of it. oh well. i'm looking forward to bio tomorrow :) i'm sure you're much better prepared than me
