I'm at UTS doing Media Arts & Production, and to be totally honest, you learn very little film-wise in first-year and everything you shoot is on MiniDV. First year also sucks cause you'll be doing a lot of compulsory theory subjects which are write-offs. However, this is mostly the same at other...
The UAI for all BA Communications are falling. A lot. So hopefully that's good news for you! Some things that you could do would be to:
1)Go to UTS Insearch and study for a year there to get a Diploma in Communications (I think that's what its called) and then transfer to a BA. You can...
my first week has been pretty awful cause I decided to be proactive and social by letting fate decide which tutorials I was going to be in (and not planning with my friends before to make sure we were in the same tutorials together) soooo ... i've ended up in tutorials without my buddies, and...
1. Bloc Party 'Silent Alarm' (so in love with the drummer!)
2. Snow Patrol 'Final Straw'
3. Snow Patrol 'Songs For Polar Bears'
4. Little Birdy 'bigbiglove'
5. The White Stripes 'White Blood Cells'
My next buy will probably be Sarah Blasko's 'The Overture and the Underscore' ... love...
was working on checkouts yesterday, and this knife company had an in-store promotion, offering free paring knives to all customers. It was good cause the freebie drove all the customers away from the checkouts so they could get their pissy knife :)
But don't you reckon that giving customers...
Mine was during the first few weeks of first year during a class discussion. We were split into two groups for a debate and the guy next to me shook his head sadly and said (in a broken tone of voice) "Sorry, I can't - I just can't make capitalist arguments."
Yours?
on the checkouts the other day and I overheard some guy say to a workmate "I think signing for items bought by credit card is a stupid idea."
No it isn't.
Moron.
basically it's like any customer service job. You stand there and get abused by the customer, who sees you as their insignificant, mindless slave. Obviously if you're behind the till, you're stupid - yet you're not allowed to make mistakes. And then they accuse you of trying to rip them off...
The thing for me is that I could probably give up my job If I wanted to - parents would support me, no probs. But I think its valuable to have that work experience and that social experience (dealing with crazy customers and cranky supervisors) that comes with the job.
Probably not the worst feature of UTS ... but one worth complaining about. It is SO hard to get mobile reception in the Tower building. Perhaps its just Vodafone? Anyways, I look like an idiot wandering around, staring and muttering curses at my phone.
you're a communications student right? I have a feeling this is for the PCA assigment. For the bibliography assignment the book we review can't be a collection (ie: an edited book of essays written by many authors). I know, it sucks ... :vcross: I really wanted to review one book but couldn't...
1)David Jones ... stuff like $70 (I think) baseball caps, when you can get them for $15 at Paddy's Market.
2)Yep
3)Haha its become so lame now cause its everywhere ... no.
4)Its a real brand, its just known more as a 'fake' brand.
I recently joined the SDA, and on the letter it told me that all union fees were tax deductible? I reckon u should just keep your membership ... that extra little bit that you get from non-membership just goes to the govt eventually. :(
Was wondering whether any of you 2nd/3rd/4th/5th year etc. students had any tutorial presentation advice for us 1st years? Are there any things that you've seen done that have been very effective?
Any tips on how to do the rapporteur's job well would also be greatly appreciated (I don't want...
thanks for that :) Yeah, I got the job. Went to training last week and watched a whole series of really repetitive videos. By the time the guy on one of the videos had said the word 'microbes' for the 100th time, everyone was cracking up. Oh well, at least I got paid for being there!
