Personally, no.
I don't feel the need to go to church to be close to god.
I pray most days, and I feel close to him then.
I think that religeon should be less about ritual and more about what you actually believe.
If you feel proud to call yourself muslim, but don't feel like the scarf (I forgot the proper name for it) or daily prayer is central to your personal beliefs, then I see no reason why you should have to uptake them.
Well although we are currnetly studying satire, we are intergrating extension concepts into the topic. We'll begin studying/analysing the Simpsons Movie next week; which does sound very trivial, though it should be quite good. Currently we have an assignment to appropriate a traditional fairy-tale into a modern sartirical text that comments on society through discourses / intergrated themes, for example; Marxism, Post-Collonialism, Feminism, Capitalism, Post-Modernism, etc. I'm thinking of apropriating the Little Matchstick Girl into an almost anachist atyle text, or perhaps a Capitalist text, twisting the Marxist theory (which the story is based on) into a parody, ie; capitalism, to communism, to socialism, then so far socialist back to capitalist consumerist again. But I don't really know for certain what I'll do yet.woww i finish school everyday at 3 20pm

Yeah, well our other teacher fucked us over by not giving us any time for the creative element of the course and I still have no idea what my stories are going to be based on but hopefully I can get some ideas from questions that my teacher is giving us.

We're doing sci-fi, which is great. All our texts have been good so far. We're just starting on Dune now, which means I have to re-read it since it will be my core text.
Also I've got about 1000 words on my short story so far, it just requires constant editing to achieve the right feel. How about you?

I was sadly rostered to work/volunteer at the zoo on the day of Mardi Gras ....well, not sadly. I enjoy working there but I would've loved to have gone. =/ So yeah, I'm a little jealous hearing these stories of how people got had fun hooking up, getting drunk/stoned, etc...so yeah, sucks to be me.

Ha! Haha. No. I'm just surviving with the amount of work I have now. Though I suppose it's a blessing in disguise (what a horrible cliche), as I won't have any assignment throughout the holidays; when I shall be studying.
Um, in Ext. Eng we are doing satire, which is fun; though we are also looking at the basics of ext., ie; discourse, invited readings, positioning, ideology, texts and society, etc. It's really quite good; and it's the closest thing to philosophy I have yet uncovered in any of my subjects.
So you say Year 12 is very different even to Year 11? Much better, or just different type of work done? (I like the Gruen Transfer too! )

Indeed indeed, English Advanced (and extension). Eng Extension is great so far! Very fun, and very interesting too. Probably my most demanding subject mind. And thank you for the vocabulary compliment! I guess that's growing up watching documentaries and BBC productions (what hideous indoctrination!). Though I'm still terrible at spelling. I saw on your 'About Me' thingo (not stalking you) that you like Media Watch. Yay! Finally person who watches that show!
