    11M2U Trigonometry Question

That would imply that \\ \sin x + \cos x = 0 which means that the solutions generated would not be the same, so maybe the question is wrong

Read this for a better life.

put it this way, it just gets worse.
  4. integral95

Is there a better way to solve this question?

lol what that doesn't seem valid, you would have to somehow end with the line t1 = t2 (assuming that the question is right) Yeah just wondering, is this question right?

    state rank raw marks

be aware that your 4U marks is also taken into account when the 3U ranks are distributed (since there would be around 10-20 getting 100% in the externals)

HSC 2012-14 MX2 Integration Marathon (archive)

    Re: MX2 Integration Marathon For parts i and ii I1 = \int_{0}^{\frac{\pi}{4}}\frac{1-cos2x}{sin2x} \\ = \int_{0}^{\frac{\pi}{4}}\frac{2sin^22x}{sin2x} = \int_{0}^{\frac{\pi}{4}} tan x = ln(\sqrt{2}) \\ \\ \\ I^{2r+1} - I^{2r-1} = \int_{0}^{\frac{\pi}{4}}...

    Fitzpatrick Polynomials

you got that wrong, let the roots be a,b,c,d and ab=cd and as the other said use all of the root properties of the polynomial

Possibility of getting a state rank??

To get state rank you need talent, dedication, and luck on the exam day.

    Series Question

Haha nice question, This actually consists of BOTH AP and GP First you separate the series into 2 parts , the sum of the first 20 terms in (n-1) i.e (0-1-2-3-....-19) = 20/2(0-19) = -190 then I find the sum of the first 20 terms in 2^n which is 2+ 2^2 +2^3 + ... 2^{20} = 2(2^{20}...

    Weird trig discrepancy?

Yeah because like i said you got an equation in terms of tan x. so x can't be pi/2 in those lines as it's undefined. I'm assuming you used general solution to get x = \frac{2k\pi+\pi}{6} which would generate x = pi/2 , or how else did you get x = pi/2?
  11. integral95

    Weird trig discrepancy?

\tan(k\pi+ \frac{\pi}{2} ) (where k is an integer) is undefined, and the quadratic equation you got is in terms of tan x so it's not possible to obtain solutions x = k\pi+ \ \frac{\pi}{2} even though it's a solution to the original equation.

    Easy algebra question

    it's not equal to anything.... so you can't "solve" \frac{5}{x^2-1} - \frac{3}{x-1}
