No they don't exactly get +5 for their UAI, they get -5 from the cutoffs. Remember the UAI is a rank, so they don't just push people up the rankings.

it really depends on how your whole grade does.....say the lowest EXAM mark in your grade for economics is 85, then you're still going to get a decent HSC mark for economics.........say the lowest exam mark is like 60, then your low ranking will drag your mark down regardless of your EXAM...

yeah there's no requirements for it at my school....but there's only 3 people doing it from an original 4 anyway.....

You don't get extra uai points, it means you can get into a course with 5 or whatever points lower than the actual cutoff. Your uai will not change.

only if he and others to well in the external exams...getting high ranks does not necessarily guarantee high HSC marks and high UAI, same applies for low ranks.

it can get moderated to a lower mark if your ranking and overall grades performance in the external are low. Sure you would keep an external mark of 98......but yeah

Regret not studying much for the trials like I used to, hence not getting the marks I should have got and fucking up my ranks so badly. Obvious mistake :D

like you said, if you're going to fail it it wont be much of a backup even if you fail another one.......I suggest you just drop it if you really dislike it that much, otherwise you can keep it and see how you go after a term..... it can only count if you do the exam, remember you have a...

i would suggest keeping them all, you can drop anytime in year 12

I was going for it, and was on track, but now I doubt it. Maths was never gonig to be a band 6 so that left me with 11 units....now I screwed up English so hard.....

Yeah they "dumbed down" the HSC Physics course. Took out all the maths and added all the social and ethical, and history crap........
