Don't worry, I was searching for a GPA of 6...but I'll have to deal with graduating with 5.875, close enough hehe. What marks did you get last semester, if they were all distinctions too, you have a shot at making the dean's merit list.

Can I just say I know people who got accepted into honours for next year with GPAs less than 5...so if it's something you really want to do and you don't quite make the 5, apply and see what happens. It depends on how much demand there is for that particular year. Well done everyone!

As others have said it depends on the course and on how many people apply. You are best to enquire directly to the person who handles honours for your particular course. If you really want to wish your pretty distinction away maybe you should contact your lecturer or tutor directly via email and let them know what's shown up, let them chase it...or at least they may tell you what to do...or ignore you, either or. :)

Thanks Cape! I'd have no problem if they gave me a few (or a lot) of extra marks, I just don't want to be ripped off haha. I want to do honours next year, so every mark could count. I just hope if my marks change that they don't fall into lower mark brackets, that would be evil for my GPA ;)

I often think that someone is typing my marks into the computer wrong or something...I got ripped off one mark one semester but I didn't bother about getting it changed because it didn't change the mark bracket. How do we get that checked? As in not the mark specifically, but that it was entered...

As someone who has missed out on a higher mark bracket quite a few times I'd say don't appeal. A lot of thinking and working out etc goes into the final marks you're given, chances are you just missed out because that's where you sit in your overall cohort. Yes I'm pretty sure that's what it means, assuming each subject was worth 10 cp of course, though you can figure out whether or not you passed everything by looking at your GPA, assuming it is the correct one. My GPA for the 2.5 years I've done went down...from 5.813 to 5.8 even, I think I can...
