Usyd january 2nd day for high achievers

OK - from a TSP brochure: To be considered for the program in their first year, students should normally have a UAI (or equivalent) over 98.7 and a mark over 90 in at least one science subject area and/or over 95 in Mathematics Extension 1; or demonstrate exceptional performance in scientific...

Usyd january 2nd day for high achievers

I got a letter from UNSW congratulating me for my result. It invited me to the open day on the 3rd. I don't know if there's anything on on the 2nd there...maybe this letter is the one alys was talking about. On the bottom of the letter it said "letter to top 1000 students.doc", so I think it...

    question: kepler's law of periods

what has the earth got to do with it? you are talking about an orbital system which assumes a direct relationship between the planet and the body it is orbiting. From your initial question, you said this was Venus around the sun. From Kepler's law of periods, the orbital radius cubed is...

    question: kepler's law of periods

don't you need the mass of the sun, not the mass of venus?

    question: kepler's law of periods

your formula doesn't make sense, unless it equals 1. using the relationship between mass, period and radius: M = 4*pi^2R^3 __________ G*T^2 I'm a little rusty...but isn't the mass here the mass of the central object, not the one in orbit? ok, you've done that.

How much did Yr 12 2002 Study during their December/January Holidays (2001)?

I studied a lot...I was motivated because I did cosmology this year, and receiving the course pack at the end of december really made me wake up to the fact that there was a hell of a lot to be done, probably because there it was, all 1000 pages of it, sitting in front of me. I've never found...

lege. :graduate: you're doing advanced maths at uni...I hope?

    Uni offers

I think some unis send out preliminary offers to people..there are some courses which don't require a UAI (eg. music, some art courses - these may come out with main round though), and some which are offered by unis in advance to attract students. So yeah, I think there are quite a few people...

    TWO important questions!!!

my two cents.... 1. yes (many are cutting it much finer than that!) :D 2. yes, or so I'm told by a friend who has a job and does combined comm/law. Although it would depend on the specific double degree you're doing...ie. science, engineering, med all take up more hours during the week...

    Uni offers

yeah, I got letters from pretty much all the faculties and universities I put on my preferences list. Most letters just welcome you, hoping that you'll put their preference first. There usually aren't any additional criteria...the welcome is conditional, so long as you meet the UAi...

    UAI mark & rank

22 people got 100 then groups of 42 for each increment, or thereabouts. that makes 22 + 42.41 =1744 people. (this is probably a maximum...I remember reading somewhere that there were less people in the lower increments...so take flyin's estimate just to be safe...:))

After 13 years...thoughts, emotions and pearls of wisdom

After 13 years...thoughts, emotions and pearls of wisdom

yeah, that's what it means, although I'm not too sure about 'can strike'...that would be interpretive, I think. nemo - 'no-one' me - 'me' impune (adv.) - "with impunity" lacessit (from lacesso, -ere, -ii, -itum) - he strikes, provokes

After 13 years...thoughts, emotions and pearls of wisdom
