Do people generally a 90+ ATAR without taking any extension subjects ?

Those are great subjects to get a 90+ atar. Used an atar calculator with very achievable marks for someone who wants to become an engineer. http://imgur.com/NwdseI6

    Atar Estimate + Help

I'm not trying to be condescending, but you invited the community to evaluate your ranks and marks and make a judgement, which I did.

Anyone with the same subjects as I? (Prelim and HSC)

Chem is awesome. Prelim chemistry is about setting a foundation so its not that interesting in my opinion. However, I love HSC chemistry, it's great.

    Atar Estimate + Help

Same thinking as Nailgun. Only being capable of 65% in general maths exams, leads me to believe you don't try very hard at school or aren't completely capable. No offence.

    Internal and External Marks

Say you come third in assessment marks with an average of 85%. The rank one gets 90% in assessment marks. You are approximately 5.5% behind the rank one (5/90). In the final exam if the highest mark is 95, you get 95- (95x0.055) as your internal mark, which rounds to 90. So your internal mark is...

    ATAR aim of 85

yea but you'd be crazy to do that with chem

    ATAR aim of 85

Just letting you know, there is no way you can just swap modern history and jump into chemistry. The stuff you learn in prelim is so vital to the HSC course, that you would be completely lost and frustrated.

    economics or business studies?

If you cant decide choose eco. You could seriously swap at the end of prelim to business because theres not a whole lot you miss out on, except learning to write business reports, which you can easily learn.

    economics or business studies?

You dont need to be good at maths to do eco. The only maths in eco is figuring out percentages and simple multiplication with a calculator. The way that eco is harder is that most business concepts are common sense- e.g. Marketing is important for a business cause it increases awareness and...

    economics or business studies?

Business is dry- but easier, as essentially it barely takes any level of brainpower and is mostly about memory and recall. Eco is a lot more interesting but has harder more intrinsic concepts.

Yeah but the business cycle is barely discussed in business compared to the extent in econ

    yr 11 subject selection

I do all three commerce subjects, legal, business and economics. They're all completely different don't worry, i like them enough. Though I would say business sucks and if you wanna drop one of the three drop that lol.
