    getting into ANU

Are you a NSW or ACT student? ANU uses UniTest which can raise your UAI by up to five points (I think). Basic ANU degrees have an 80 entrance. You can always transfer. If you work hard you should be fine. If you don't its not the end of the world.

Tafe to Uni - Need some questions answered

As a previous poster said, you cannot transfer from university to TAFE. University degrees, while all being different universities, are all the same qualification (i'm just talking basic Bachelors here) where as a TAFE course is usually a diploma or certificate, ie. you cannot transfer between...

cant decide between UC or ANU for accounting

I don't know much about accounting but ANU has a much better reputation than UC. As Davo said UC is much more of a vocational university. For the theoretical more, I hate to say it, but 'proper' subjects you are much better off going to one of the main universities, ie. ANU, Usyd, Melb, UNSW...

    Cross institutional enrolment?

No but I have heard of it being done. Do it, I reckon it would be fun.

Full time student + Full time work

I work on and off. I wouldn't do it if I were you. I mean, in the first month or so you'd be fine, but come end of semester and you're going to have problems. I mean uni is meant to be fun. Well I think it is. The kind of schedule you will be looking at you will not have room to screw up...

    Opinions on social work?

As people have said here its not the ideal career for money making. Although I think that is a good thing, because if people wanted to get into it for money then they wouldn't be in it for the people. Saying that they money isn't horrible, you should be able to get by fine. Like most...

    Prospective student

The time you are planning to go isn't probably the best. I think its in the school break, or very near it, so you won't be able to get a real feel about the students and the atmosphere, and many of the buildings may be locked up. If you could go a week or two earlier, or a month or so later...

Confused. a bit. UC to Monash

If you have a year of credits under your belt that may be enough. I believe they only take your GPA into account after one year, but also, they average your GPA with your UAI. The sticky thread in transfers has information about how this is done, but I believe a credit is about 88 after the...

    What UAI to study overseas??

If you are applying as an International student generally it will be easier to get in but very expensive. Germany used to offer free university education to its residents, but I know that they are now charging a reasonable fee. I imagine this would be much higher if you were an international...

    Reformating help

Well that sucks. Maybe its built in, like self installed re installation data, or you can use a thumb drive. Or maybe you need an external CD drive. Check you manual that came with it.

    Reformating help

I don't really know anything about computers but I have reformatted a fair few in my time. Generally your laptop comes with a recovery disk, or there is a program on the computer which allows you to burn this disk. Then you turn of the computer and turn it back on and it does the...

Can anyone help me with my laptop?

I've put XP on my laptop before it as it came with only 512mb and Vista, but I had no way of getting drivers for anything. My house mate back then was a computery person and mucked around looking for drivers so I could run XP or Ubuntu but apparently I could not. While I thoroughly despised...

Can anyone help me with my laptop?

Hi, I was just wondering if someone people could give me some advice with my laptop. I'm not a computery person at all, so while I can use my computer proficiently, I cannot fix many problems. Its a Toshiba laptop M200 PSMC0A and I think its a 2007 model, although it could be 2006 but I...

    Problem

I think that if your sister is only getting pass/credits in Arts, law may not be for her. Many of my friends are doing Arts/Law, and are getting not brilliant but reasonable marks in their Law classes and HD's in their Arts. I would just be worried that her standard is not up to par with...

    Chicks at ANU

I'm glad you will be taking full advantages of Canberra's services in Fyshwick and Mitchell, its always nice to support local industry.

    Chicks at ANU

I wish people would just read the sticky on transferring as far as selection, GPA and UAI are concerned. Read it please, then ask questions. There is a pdf. at the bottom. And it won't matter how many 'chicks' there are in each course, none of them will go for you.

I need to do this assignment but lacking motivation

I wrote like another 300 words last night which was a push for me. I think its in rambling stage. Then I got sick of it and starting watching Skins of my hard drive. I really am the worst uni student. Thank god I am doing Arts.

    Word limit 1500 words.

I don't know what its like at Macquarie but at ANU there is generally a 10% lee-way. So if an essay was 1500 you could go 150 over or under, if you go over that 10% you lose 2% of marks every subsequent 10% I imagine yours would be something similar.

I need to do this assignment but lacking motivation

I think I am looking way too much at the big picture. I do not need to come up with some new radical philosophical views. All I need is to discuss the question. Does anyone else do that? Decide they need to solve the Free Will problem or something similar?
