    How are 07's finding prelim?

Normally I'd agree. But not today. Not while I'm racking my brain here trying to whip up a French speech :mad1:

    How was your school day?

Long weekend?? *scramble for diary* ...... Wheeeeeee!!! Some long-overdue sleep at last! @.@ Yay, long live the Queen :D

Stuck with the same subjects till the end, any regrets?

Heh, no English huh? :p I don't mind my subjects, I actually chose them this time last year :D (despite some disagreement from my parents - no I will NOT do 3u Eng or Eco! :mad1:) But I think I might drop IPT next year. Or something. No way I'm doing 13 units for HSC, anyhow :p

    How was your school day?

o.0 Whoa, how come? Isn't it a rule that you'd need a notice for an assessment task at least two weeks beforehand?

    Who hates physics?

Can't agree more with you guys :) Physics is cool :D

The HSC - A series of driving tests...

^I don't think that we should do whatever we do in English in foreign languages too, except maybe the Extension courses. You can't be expected to be able to critically analyse a piece of text to the level that you do for English, when it's in a language that you've only learnt for the past four...

    Name of this proof

By the Rearrangement Inequality, it is proven :D I don't know if you can just say that for your question though, as in, if you can just take it that the marker would know about the inequality. I just know that it's often used, mostly in conjunction with others, to solve olympiad questions...

Re: Preliminary HSC Assessments-Thoughts/Results v1.0 *choke*

    Preliminary HSC Assessments-Thoughts/Results

Re: Preliminary HSC Assessments-Thoughts/Results v1.0 I haven't seen that myself, but I HAVE seen a sentence or two being re-used in some of my reports :mad1: For example... *Year 10 half-yearly report* Me: "Hmm, this comment sounds vaguely familiar..." Went home, dug out my Years 8 and...

    Preliminary HSC Assessments-Thoughts/Results

Re: Preliminary HSC Assessments-Thoughts/Results v1.0 Supposedly it's just something to indicate how you're settling into your subjects, so no marks/ranks till the yearly report (gasp!!) :p So much for the frenzy when we got our report, took me a while to realise that there weren't...

    Olympiads

You can sign up for the National Qualifying Exams for Biology, Chemistry, or Physics if you wish, and those who do well in them are invited to participate in the respective olympiads. Check out http://www.aso.edu.au/ for more info :)

    Preliminary HSC Assessments-Thoughts/Results

Re: Preliminary HSC Assessments-Thoughts/Results v1.0 lol yep, some ppl were like, 'what a pointless report!' But I just won't be able to stand the interrogation from my parents, had there been marks and ranks on the report :p
  13. airie

    Olympiads

lol overkill, Gab, overkill it'll be for me :p So you've asked your teacher yet? Maybe you wanna do them, the NQEs? Nothing's stopping you from doing so :p

    free beer

Thanks :) This slingshot effect sounds like it's at work too when, say, a small asteroid, is being 'kicked out' by a planet. How is this (and with the shuttle too) different in the case where the asteroid is being captured instead? Does it have anything to do with the initial speed of the...

    Preliminary HSC Assessments-Thoughts/Results

Re: Preliminary HSC Assessments-Thoughts/Results v1.0 Good luck :) To this date I am still relieved that our school report this time doesn't have any marks or ranks on it, just learning outcomes :p

    Olympiads

I don't know about you, but it takes me quite some time to actually know the topics well - yes I'm slow :p If I don't, I won't be able to do the NQEs in the first place, let alone the olympiads, which are only open to those who did well in the NQEs :p
  17. airie

    Olympiads

I've heard about this course too, but would it really help? I guess I wouldn't hesitate at all to enter all these olympiads if I was in Year 9 or something this year :p Being in Year 11 now just doesn't seem to allow much time to train...:S

    Prelim. Msn/Aim/YIM Lists.

And the freakin' website wouldn't work! Two voices come on during the video - how am I supposed to figure out what they're saying when both start blabbing at the same time? My French is not *that* good! :S

    Prelim. Msn/Aim/YIM Lists.

^Phys and chem are alright atm, but French listening stuff is getting annoying. sigh. :p

    What is your motivation?

Exactly. Two of those chopsticks lay perpendicular to each other. Maths hurts your brain. :mad1:
