    Primary schools...those were the days

I haven't been back to my odl school, but when I worked in a supermarket I used to see my old kindergarten teacher all the time, and she still remembered me and would come and say hello.:)

Moving from english standard to advanced - possible?

I didn't think you could move from Standard to Advanced...we were always told that if we wren't sure what course to do-to do the harder one cos you can always drop down but you can't move up. But if you manage to do it, I don't think it would be all that hard (work-wise).

    UNI hours + emplyment!

I'm doing speech pathology (you'd never expect that to be so many hours, hey?) Yeah-there is a tonne of reading to do outside of UNI, and a lot of my classes are also very science-y, so that means a lot of rote memorising too... So yeah, it is gona be v.hard once the exam dates start creeping...

    Banzaiii!!!!!!!

yeah, I've seen it once. it was pretty funny, but I've always forgotton about it since then. I reckon you'd get sick of it pretty quickly though. ezzy85-I love your avatar!:D

    UNI hours + emplyment!

How many people here manage to hold down both a part time job, and UNI? If so-how many hours of each do you do a week, and do you think you will be able to keep it up? I have 27 hours of classes a week, and on most days don't get home til around 6:30ish, and have been leaving all most of my...

    Theres no escape...

You could try studying with a friend, discussing and talking things out together, rather than sitting by yourself in silence. If your talking with someone, you won't need silence to concentrate on it, and it can usually be pretty effective...so long as the two of you can manage to keep on track!;)

    Theres no escape...

Yeah-noisy family members are the worst. And is it just me-or do neightbours always decide it is a top idea to start doing some exensions on their house when you have exams?! :( Don't bother with public libraries-people don't even attempt to be quiet there. I tried doing that for...

    English: Standard vs. Advanced

I am really glad I did advanced-I don't think it was actually any harder than standard...although maybe a little more work.

sciences/maths::box or underline or just leave for the marker to find your answer??

In the maths exam-I highlighted all my answers, cos my working out can sometimes get messy, and I didn't want the marker to not be able to find my final answer. My maths teacher had told us that many people do this, and he said that he didn't think it was that good an idea because it can waste...

    Assessment tasks!

Most people would have gotton an assessment task by now, or at least heard of what is coming up... So what is everyone in for? Are they all impossibly hard, or are they OK? I was pleasantly surprised when I began hearing about mine...So far, all of the ones I've been told about are just...

    Anyone else hate Uni?

Wow...I've gone to the co-op shop on my campus several times and have never had to wait in line for more than 2 mins. One of the very few upsides for being at such a small campus.;)

    Anyone else hate Uni?

It is a lot more work that I expected, adn I am having a bit of trouble adjusting to lectures, and having to rely on your own notes and all that sort of stuff. I have a very heavy timetable and a lot of my subjects are quite tough, so I pretty much know I will be struggling a lot come exam time...

    DISTURBING MISTAKE IN EXCEL GUIDE

A wrong date isn't that huge a mistake-lots of books make mistakes like that, especially if there was some confusion or difficulty getting facts. (eg-I challenge anyone to find out the exact date that Kurt cobain shot himself, and the date his body was found!) Although the year Hitler became...
  14. B

    What to take?

On the first day-some of the lectures are just introductory (hi, I'm your lecturer, my office is here, my email is this...etc)-but others plunge right into work-so it pays to be prepared for the subject and bring anything you think you may need...but at the same time-it is only the first day, so...

Can I get in the 99s with these subjects?

Somewhere...(Board of studies site I think) it tells you the maximum UAI you can get with certain subjects...some subjects (like general maths and standard english), it is literally impossible to get a UAI of 100-no matter how high your mark in the subject. I think it is possible to get 99+...
  16. B

    Help to get 99+

Yeah, you can certainly get that UAI... but my advice for now is not to worry about it too much. People who go too far into it in the beginning usually end up nor caring by the time the HSC rolls around because they are just sick of it, and a bit disullusioned that they have done so much work...

    questions/discussions

Another good question to ask is "So...was this course you're first preference?";) I agree...it does get boring, but at least you have some sorta starting point to begin a conversation! It's better than going up to a complete stranger and not knowing what to say at all...you have converstaion...

    Girl/guy courses!

Yeah, thats where i go! I didn't realise how many girls there were at first (I went to an all girls high school, so I'm used to seeing a lot of females around;) ), but then I was reading the UNIs newsletter and read the statistics for last year-2682 female full time students, and only 762 male...

    anyone here

To those who dropped from Advanced-you probably have made the right choice! I dropped from 2 unit when I was in year 11, (after I got something like 56% in the 2 unit half yearly...:() and it made things SO much easier. I ended up with a band 6 in the HSC even though my study only consisted of...

    Girl/guy courses!

I'm doing speech pathology at UNI...I turned up yesterday and discovered that out of the 80 people doing my course, only 6 are male! I don't get that at all...I guess it sounds like something more girls than guys would chose, but I would never had guesed it would be that drastic! I've...
