    To all Med Hopefuls

Yep! Other than tutoring which pays around $50/hour depending on what kind of tutoring you are asked to do!

    To all Med Hopefuls

At the moment, all NSW graduates (domestic) are guaranteed an internship (intern + residency). After that, its going to be based on research/what your consultants/team thinks of you. Your best 'bet' to further your career is to get published/research. Otherwise get involved in Medsoc, peer...

    To all Med Hopefuls

At least at UNSW, there is a lot of tutoring opportunities- if you score well enough in exams. I do get paid to tutor, but I did achieve a HD ave for my first few years in MED. It's more of a casual job rather than part time. Honestly, I think it's better if you focus on studying rather than...

    To all Med Hopefuls

Heaps of people are medical receptionist in my course! :P most of them do it for 1) $$ 2) CV- shows you can balance work and study life. 3) it does improve your communication skills Personally, I'm employed by the Uni to tutor 1st and 2nd year MED students who are socioeconomically...

Medicine at UNSW or Newcastle JMP

I'm sure in Sydney ( at least) it doesn't matter. But at Newcastle, you graduate with a Bachelor of Medicine ( and for students not at Newcastle, there is often confusion on whether you can do surgery- because of the name- tbh I'm not even sure myself!. At UNSW, if you do really well- you end up...

    UNSW chit chat thread

Re: UNSW chit chat thread 2016 Haha I think first lectures are normally like that! But the second lecture of the same subject in the week should cover stuff. ( if you have that!)

    UNSW Scholarships

Hey all, I was just wondering how long does it normally take for scholarship applications to be processed? (To get the outcome) I know it would probably depend on the number of people who apply but does anyone have a general idea?(: Thanks!

Need some clarification regarding min UoC per semester

Directly from http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/faculties/2012/sci/FacultyRulesUG.html Study Load: Reduced Normal and Overload The standard full-time enrolment load at UNSW is 24 units of credit (UOC) per semester (Semester 1 and 2) however you are considered to be a full-time student if you are...

    2016 Sem 1 Timetables Thread

My timetable picture of last year was too big to upload. But in Med, we had back to back classes 9am - 5pm :P

    O-week freebies?

Yeah, Friday is generally empty. Apparently yesterday there were golden gaytimes! They gave the O week bags out randomly today, lipton ice tea, free pen by UNSW catholics and free hat by roundhouse

    WAM Boosters 2016

Bringing up an old thread but thought I should since I did well in the GENY0003 Summer course (: Got a HD- just got back the marks Especially easy if you are good at writing essays! (But not critical). Quite a few second language students do it. And the GENY courses that run throughout the...

    UNSW chit chat thread

Re: UNSW chit chat thread 2016 Think it really depends! I found uni quite okay and in a away less stressful than high school (where you had to study to get into a course you really wanted!) Perhaps get a feel of uni first and see how you find it. And how valuable work is to you (e.g financial...

    O-week freebies?

Too late now but hopefully everyone got hold of the free T shirts the Uni Bookshop was giving out :P

Buying e-books rather than the physical textbook???

I don't do commerce, but for Med, most of the books are available in the main library or online! https://library.unsw.edu.au/

How do I access email with zmail login?

I had the same issue in first year! My account apparently had a 'bug' or something. https://www.it.unsw.edu.au/support/servdesk/servicedesk_home.html You can either call IT (link above) or visit them in person. They resolved the issue pretty quickly and I could access my email thereafter.

    new 2016 concession foil

I got my concession sticker (: They wouldn't give you the sticker if you are just travelling within Sydney- as your uni ID is sufficient. My boyfriend and I managed to get the stickers as we mentioned we travel rural sometimes (mainly me since Medical students have rural placements). The FM...

    Uts vs unsw pre-med

Hey! Based on experience/advice from previous years, lateral entry into UNSW medical school is pretty hard! During my coursework year (year 3 medicine), most of the 10 lateral entry students were University medallist (topping modules/courses). Competition is intense - though once you get to...
