    Sample Answers for Past SC

Not that I know of, but if they provide marking guidelines from the marking centres, that should be just as helpful (and in some cases even more so)

How much pressure do your parents put on you?

mhm, the HSC is stressful enough without constantly dissappointed parents breathing down your neck

    are you dropping

Lol, kind of like in Legally blonde yeah? I go to a selective school and there are a LOT of blonde girls in my grade - the majority are really smart too.

How much pressure do your parents put on you?

They did for a while - they moved back to India and left him here. But yeah, lately they've been heaps better and he's moved back in with them

    are you dropping

Yes, very philosophical lol. Example of a positive stereotype: All asian kids are extremely smart Negative consequence: One of my friends is asian and she doesn't get good marks at all, so she's labelled as the dumb asian chick

How much pressure do your parents put on you?

mmm, yeah. A son of one of my dad's friends failed his HSC (as in, didn't get given a UAI, only one of those less than 30 descriptions) His parents were soooo mad at him at first. It's taken more than 5 years but they're finally understanding his point of view and realising it's not the end of...

    are you dropping

Yeah, it is a hard one - everyone's going to have a different opinion on it. There's really no right or wrong answer. And you could ask, "Is there such a thing as a positive stereotype?"
  8. blackglitter

    are you dropping

That's a hard one, it really will end up on the individual whether they choose to be offended or not. Although, all stereotypes in general can have a negative impact and put unrealistic pressures on certain individuals. Even though we may choose not to believe it, we all do stereotype...

How much pressure do your parents put on you?

Since I'm hearing pretty terrible stories about how much some people are pressured, what do you guys think of overpressuring parents? Personally, I can see how sometimes they think it's in your best interests, but I feel it's more de-motivating than inspirational. What do you guys think?

:jaw: OMG! That's so horrible. And no, thank god, not all asian parents are like that...
  12. blackglitter

    are you dropping

Lol :p my parents are really supportive now, but just a few months ago when I got my school cert results back, this was their reaction: "Oh! All band sixes...and a 100% in geography...Why didn't you do better in maths and science? You really need to improve your marks you know. How do you...

Any particular 'good luck charms' that you do before important days?

Same here, now I'm just paranoid and will probably end up taking 2 next time
  14. blackglitter

    are you dropping

That's just...harsh... But YOU believe in yourself right? That's what will really matter in the end, and that's what will help you prove her wrong.
  15. blackglitter

    are you dropping

No, I'm just asking because that's what my parents used to be like until I convinced them otherwise, sorry, not trying to stereotype but the line of lecturing seems similar even though much harsher.

    are you dropping

lol, thanks. btw, Aplus, are your parents by ANY chance Indian/Lankan/etc?
  17. blackglitter

    are you dropping

:O that is so unfair! far out, I'd be so mad if my parents said that. The worst I get is, "Oh...that marks a bit disappointing but you'll do better next time right?" Maybe you should try to let them know how serious you really are about your HSC and that you're perfectly capable of making...

    are you dropping

Haha, I know what you mean, but I convinced my parents in the end :p
