Because English is a completely bastardised language using multiple sets of words (borrowed vocabularies) from different language trees. You'll find all the words where 'ph' sounds like 'f' come from the same 'set' of words that came from a specific other historic language In that language I...

Career advice for an older member

I can't wait for you to start work K, This is like a soap opera.

I have european friends that speak english as a second language and despite growing up using phonetic languages (that's the word for what you described) they still write English perfectly. Poor excuse to look stupid.

    grad salary banking

Economics is relevant because despite your view that they aren't paid well enough I'd presume that there are enough worthy applicants filling the vacancies so that an increase in pay is not needed

    grad salary banking

Yes, without a doubt The paramedic is paid less because the paramedic is worth less Of course the worth I speak of is economical worth based on supply and demand rather than social worth I dont think anyone could argue that they'd rather live without a para than a banker :P

Difference between cadetship & co-op program (preferably in UNSW)?

^ You won't see many managers out there in the corporate world in their mid-20's

Difference between cadetship & co-op program (preferably in UNSW)?

When you ask how difficult it is to get a cadetship you're essentially just asking how difficult is it to get a job That's all a cadetship is... In terms of experience the co-ops would be comparable to cadetships at the big4 Random guess but I think there's about 30 coops a year at both UTS...

Difference between cadetship & co-op program (preferably in UNSW)?

If somebody were to ask you 'What field generally gets paid more, Law or Retail?', would you call someone who answered 'Law' biased? The answer doesn't merit a rounded response based on the relative difficulties of the fields, barriers to entry, availability of work or other considerations...

Difference between cadetship & co-op program (preferably in UNSW)?

No, I didnt *forget*, I was making a direct response to Affinity. To simplify it for you, he made a statement about "A" and "B" I responded with another statement about "A" and "B" specifically. Let me get this straight. You're claiming that I highlighted that cadets do more work experience...

Difference between cadetship & co-op program (preferably in UNSW)?

How is it biased? Please explain. Both leave with a degree, the same degree. But the cadet has 2 years work experience. There is no way that you could possibly objectively say that I am wrong or biased. I responding directly to Affinity whom you could interpret implied that co-op students...

Difference between cadetship & co-op program (preferably in UNSW)?

Well really I'd say its Cadetship: *Plenty* of work with study Co-op: Some work with study Since at the end of both you would have done the same amount of study but differing amounts of work!

    Macquaire?

    Don't bother

    UNSW or USYD

UNSW sucks. Too many things wrong with it. NFI if Sydney is any better, haven't been, but I hate UNSW and if not for the 'prestige' I would have thought it'd a terrible uni. To list a few: * 12week semester with barely any work cut out from 14week version. Led to movement away from midsems...

    Graduate Alternative Pathways

I'm curious too actually. Any insights? My guess would be that you'd be able to get a grad job (with companies that specify recent grads rather than final-year grads) so long as you at least have something meaningful to say about the year you gapped. Hmm?
  15. V

    BCom/BSci

I dont think you can call Liberal studies a diluted degree as by invention its supposed to be a 'Commerce' degree with a little general knowledge attached rather than a composition of two other degrees :P

Big 4 Accounting Firms Internships 2008

We have a lot of UK secondees in our sydney office and most of them reflect on how much more relaxed the social side of the Big4 is in sydney. Whilst there are always egos I don't think its anywhere near as bad here as in that post.

How to write cover-letters... and various other tips for applications!

IMO the UNSW guide is the most superior.. http://www.careers.unsw.edu.au/careerEd/jobApplications/coverLetters/ Also in-tray exercise is good http://www.careers.ed.ac.uk/STUDENTS/Applications_Interviews/AssessmentCentres/in-tray%20exercise/intray_exercise.htm Sticky imo.

Big 4 Accounting Firms Internships 2008

I'm bias with PwC obviously but wow, KPMG before EY?! *runs away from infuriated KPer people*

    Graduate pay

Though its pretty safe to say that you can't reach certain grades (and certain salaries) without qualification... At my firm anyway there's more or less a bottleneck of senior accountants that are ready to be promoted to manager but are required to finish their CA (and essentially get promoted...

    Clueless, someone enlighten me!

*bump* So does anyone have any genuine insight into my OP?.. No brokers out there?? Surely there must be some experience/knowledge outside the ubiquitous IB/Big4 scene! Feel a little rorted given karma, etc. :(
