    Memorise Syllabus?

Memorising syllabi, IMHO, is counter productive. Instead, ask yourself, If this syllabus dot point was given to me as a 7 marker in the final HSC examination, am I able to give a 7 marker response? If you believe you can, write the response down, and ask your teacher/peers/ppl on BoS for...

CLICK HERE for experienced chemistry tutor

well, teeth is a kind of chemistry? like a strong base of Ca. (which is why acidic foods corrode teeth)

    Question on Biopolymer PLEASE HELP

    a) a biopolymer is a hydrocarbon b) how what you described doesn't make much sense: "process of catalytic cracking after fermentation" fermentation converts glucose or sucrose into ethanol catalytic cracking converts long chain short demand hydrocarbons into short chain long demand...

    Galvanic Cells prac problems

why don't you request the experiment to be done again? 1st hand results are to be obtained in a first hand fashion.

Dry Cell & Vanadium Redox Cell Helppppp!!!

chemistr: look at CCHSC, too hard/lazy to remember cost/prac: you tell me.... is dry cell cheap? do you see them been used everywhere? is vanadium cell cheap (well you probably won't know, since ...) are they used everywhere? (not really) reason for this is that vanadium redox requires large...

    ethanol help!!

Honour is an extra year after your bacholar degree, where you devote one year to pursuit an area of interest to you to research.

    Catalysts in dehydration/hydration

wow nice explanation. though I would think unprotonated water would have a higher tendency to pick up the proton in step2. are you doing a chemistry major by any chance brenton? you seem very knowledgable, especially in the field of organic chemistry.

    beadle and tatum

a protein may consist of several polypeptides. but a gene only makes one poly peptide. which means it may take several genes to make one protein

    What's my control?! HELP!!!

ie, how do you know that milk is not solidifying by itself? therefore, milk without renin is the control... temperature wise... well either 25 (rt) or 37 (body temp) as a reference

the effect of temperature and substrate concentration on enzyme activity

^isn't that everything in a prac exam? lemme give you a start on aim: look at the title of this thread, and add to examine before it.

binding energy... is that what they call it?

    Help! HSC Practical Assessment!

prac exams, since you know what you have to do, then just remeber the small things: - report format (don't laugh, it's important... i lost my 1st in chem in my school because of this), hypothesis, aim, equipment, methods - use 3rd person - know how to assess your own validity and...

The effect of dissolved carbon dioxide on the pH of water

well... to be honest, if one is to conduct a vigorous test of the effect of CO2 on pH of the water, not only does one have to use AR grade CaCO3, AAS grade nitric acid, but also a pH meter that can detect up to 3 sig fig. I admit blowing exhaled air is abit crude, but at times, compromise...

Risks and hazards of methanol, ethanol and 1-propanol

also (just generally) avoid mixing organic substances with strong acid/base
  19. X

    Catalysts in dehydration/hydration

^correct, lowering the activation energy. more profound reason (iirc) was that the addition of H+ ions facilitate the leaving of OH group by protonating it.
  20. X

asafety hazards of ethanol, methanol and 1-propanol

safety: all: combustible, irritant volatility wise: methanol > ethanol >1-propanol methanol is probably toxic too.
