    Succeeding in English?

Well for one, you're gonna need to actually read set texts you're given; I know a lot of people who don't and well... they suffer come exam time. One's ability to derive quotes from set texts and other texts to support an argument is important in English, whilst you can blabber a lot in an...

    Units for Yr 12: 13 or 11? 12 or 10?

Re: 13 units or 11? I was pretty confident that I'd be doing relatively well in my 10 units (English adv, business, modern, french, maths), but I know a lot of people who have a "safety net" or at least don't drop until the half yearly. Fortunately none of your subjects have a major project so...

    The F1 Thread

re: The Official F1 Thread He got caught out, probably too fast. Can't blame him to be unlucky in that regard, it was raining and he went too fast. But the Nurburgring curse hangs over him again. Never been a good track for him. He lost crucial WDC points in 2003, where he was winning. Then...

    anyone else doing leni riefenstahl?

^ well, neither. she probably used nazi power to catapult her to fame. a fellow-traveller at best.

    English and UAI

Of course it'd be much easier if we were subjected to questions such as "Billy threw the ball, he threw it to John" Question 1 (a) Who does "he" refer to? (b) Who does "it" refer to That's the study of language for you

    Official Asian Cup 2007 Thread

the underdog status is now biting the socceroos who had worn it with pride during the world cup; there's been no dominant team, every Asian giant has been checked one way or another

    Modern History Textbooks

Re: Excel vs. Macquarie Revision Guides i wouldn't buy one i'd borrow one from the libary or from a friend. if you know everything that's in that topic section that you are doing you should be fine. (e.g. if you're doing Germany remember they've changed it that its only up to 39 not 45)

    anyone else doing leni riefenstahl?

we get to watch her documentary and a chasers parody on her. I'm finding it extremely boring, and I envy those doing greater world figures.

failed my yr 11 half yearly exam

for a score that low, you must forget a lot of things, or simply you didn't learn it. you must have written close to nothing..which may suggest the question caught you out i would say practice essays, but unless you don't know your content it'll be fairly useless.

History Ext. Lectures at USyd today..?

Actually, I don't know what's worse, the walk out or the lecture with 4 people in it. There was about 10 in the Saturday UN lecture... the bloke said "I expected 30"...

All students may be required to study a second language.

The problem... one of the problems is that, say, you force every Year 12 student to learn Indonesian, a clear majority of those students will not be able to use their new knowledge of Indonesian in the Australian streets, and most Australians that do travel to Bali, or Jakarta expect the locals...

History Ext. Lectures at USyd today..?

For the extension ones?... it wasn't in the sheets they handed out.. in fact the po-mo guy just gave out an excerpt from a po-mo book They were quite interesting, in my opinion. My classmate, however, pointed out that the post-modernism one failed to connect to the syllabus, but since the...

    The F1 Thread

re: The Official F1 Thread Hmm... Vettel? He's German I presume, there's quite a lot of 'German pretenders' to the mantle Schumacher (Michael, not "Top 3 Driver" Ralf) has left. Heidfeld, Sutl, Vettel, also that Hulkenberg bloke, making waves some category, was it GP2? To quote Homer...

    The F1 Thread

re: The Official F1 Thread i missed the Canadian GP, on the long weekend due to sickness, now I'll miss this due to assessments the next day... probably the fastest two weeks of F1, both tracks have long straights..plus both tracks have very little, or none if i'm not mistaken, Tilke influence...

    The Football Thread

Re: The Official A-League Thread. Real shame Cocu wasn't able to be signed by Sydney, he is what Sydney needs a midfielder who can dictate play, feed Corica, Brosque and Zdrillic or go out himself. Someone like Aloisi will find it hard to get chances so I think he will have to play a more...

    The F1 Thread

re: The Official F1 Thread Big effin deal. I've seen this behavior by Ferrari, and that was mild from them, Massa/Barrichello holding back against Schumacher, when the second driver finally gets the car settings right in their last stint. But as a Lewis fan I would've loved him to steal the...

    2007 NRL Thread

Yeah they're doing heaps well, they've got some good talent, like Costigan the guy the Broncs dumped, then Tilse the guy the Knights dumped. They're a very good recycling bin. Healthy crowd too, 13,000 more than 50% capacity but 15k in Suncorp was disappointing.

    The F1 Thread

re: The Official F1 Thread Singapore's created this image of boring-ness and with Malaysia nearby I think Singaporean authorities had to bend over further to get their F1 race, which looked down in the water a couple of years back. Without the night race they wouldn't have had any agreement...

    2007 NRL Thread

I still don't get why Hindmarsh is spending a lot of time in the bench. He is best used when he just keeps on going and going...we had Willie and Hindy off, not a good idea, especially when our halfback was a new guy. Ox in for Mullen I reckon, we need a better all-round kicking game, and I...
