    The Haber Process Question

did many of you guys put the initial increase/decrease in products and reactants?
  10. Q

    The Haber Process Question

OH, holy crap he's right, all concentrations should have shot up by a little at first, then gone up/down according to LCP, then eqm established. SHIT! but, as captain karl said, it was worth 2 marks.. i guess it all depends on the marking guidelines :(
  11. Q

    The Haber Process Question

i agree with the second part of your post; that the increase/decrease is proportional to the molar concentrations, but when increasing/decreasing the pressure the concentrations don't shoot up/down. They only/shoot up or down when your increasing/decreasing the concentration...

this years exam - band 6 cutoff?

well, it said evaluate (or was it assess?), so i mentioned that the methods are a balance between effectivness and cost, and mentioned membrane filters.. didn't really blab on about them too much. The "methods" they were refering to were things like aeration, flocullation, sedimentation...

    multiple choice...WTF?

yea it is, but what industrial kids are taught: h2so4 --> H+ + Hso4- then Hso4 = (eqm) H+ + so42- but... the point is, that thats taught in the elective. generally, h2so4 is diprotic, so the answer would have been a.
  17. Q

    multiple choice...WTF?

thats industrial stuff, is it not?
  18. Q

    Chemistry - General Thoughts

  19. Q

    Chemistry - General Thoughts

there was so much involved in that question though, i mean after the distillation (xrtzx, yea, thats how u purify ethanol), you had to weigh the ethanol produced so you could get the same amount of butanonic acid, then carry out estrification (remembering the hs2o4 and the boiling chips...
