    The official IR reform thread!

Ok this thread has been a bit quiet lately. Anyway, here's another relevant article i found. http://smh.com.au/news/national/abolish-unfair-dismissal-laws-for-all-costello/2005/07/25/1122143787334.html So now i'm thinking, "how far is too far?" when it comes to the reforms (not just IR)...

Is it possible to use textbooks for tax refunds?

Umm... i'm not expert at tax returns and accounting but i doubt you could get ur IR books written off if you worked as a customer assistant at video ezy. If so, that would mean that any student studying Industrial Relations and working as sales assistants, telemarketers and in other low...

The meaning of multiculturalism and its limits

I agree with you there and those were the points I was trying to get at instead of explaining the situation based on trust, warinessand viewing Asians as dangerous. Learning should go both ways, the onus shouldn't always be on non-white Australia to be the active party when it comes to...

    different law schools

Perhaps out socialising before uni starts again :)

is there a bus to uni at 5.30am?

Why do you need to get to uni so early? I'm sure you could just get a bus/train to the city and then get a 39X bus which goes along Anzac Pde

    Won't let me overload :'(

ROFL, hehehe no i'm not! Edit: Sorry last post wasn't clear. I know Minai and was surprised you mentioned his name. That's why i thought you might know or have seen me around at uni.

    Won't let me overload :'(

Overload every sem? hehe, yep u are ambitious! Well have u considered summer school? I'm behind in my degree as well (i don't do law) but i'd rather avoid the stress of overloading and graduate mid-yr

    Won't let me overload :'(

Well if you're behind 3 or 4 subjects, just do uni part time in your final year and get some work experience. Or you could graduate mid year and then work

    Won't let me overload :'(

hahaha. Well have u tried overloading for your commerce subjects? (i think u do comm/law). Becuase i've been hearing on these forums that some ppl overload in their commerce degree. How far behind are you?

What Skin Products Do You Use?

Dermatologists really do recommend Neutrogena. That's what mine recommended in high school. I didn't find it made much of a difference though so I stopped using it. It's hard finding a good moisturiser for sensitve skin :(

The meaning of multiculturalism and its limits

So are you suggesting that the reason why all the Australians group together in my first yr accounting lecture is becuase they don't trust the Asians in accounting? Or am i simplifying the situation too much? Asqy, the subjects you take require a strong level of English (based on my...

The meaning of multiculturalism and its limits

I made reference to people of different cultures interacting with eachother. I did not suggest that different cultures adopt an 'Australian culture' and i made no reference to integration. I merely mean interacting with other cultures because even on an unconscious level, at university...

The meaning of multiculturalism and its limits

Well it would seem that Australia is a multicultural society but I there's a difference to having people of various cultures and having these people of various cultural background interacting. And don't give food as an example of interacting with another culture. That's too obvious and is...

    The official IR reform thread!

I actually agree with a point made in that article: Mr O'Sullivan said the department believed disputes on issues such as performance assessment "should be dealt with more informally than referring it straight away to the IRC and making a federal case out of it". There are some which clogg...

    Redeemer Baptist Church and school

Well that description can be applied across to other non-religious groups. I don't think it's fear that they live under. Instead, it's more that they believe through abiding to these Christian beliefs they are similar to their own values and so they are in a position to better themselves...

    What Should I Do!!!????

I'm surprised some of those places said no. How about asking your friends if they know of any job opening at their workplace? You could try applying for call centre work. Or alternatively, wait till around Octobober (i think it's that month) when most chain stores advertise for...

    International business

I did a few Ibus courses but i'm not doing Ibus as a major. It's straightforward, nothing too complex. Managing Across cultures is very straightforward. Prob the easiest of Ibus subjects i completed As to it's usefulness, i guess it depends on what you want to do and also what skills it...
