    The Haber Process Question

And thats the end of that chapter.... Did she say anything about molar ratios?

    calcium carbonate q

    Isnt the equation CaCO3 + 2HCl -> CaCl2 + H2CO3?

    Exam Paper

Some people who finish early write the short answer questions on the back of one of the other section booklets. Someone did it for the bio test this year. Its not such a stupid question Idiot.

    Trick question? Shipwrecks and salvage

Who do you know from Gosford High? I go there

    Trick question? Shipwrecks and salvage

I think I agree, but its not the answer I put in the test.

    DEEP SEA CORROSION (not SRB)

The overall pH at depths doesnt really change, but the water immediately surrounding the wreck becomes slightly acidic. Dont know if you've worded it wrong again but generally a decrease in temperature corresponds with a decrease in corrosion rate because less have the required activation...

    The Haber Process Question

Thanks. I put it in there with that same logic and then put in an explanation. It made sense to me like that, I was waiting for someone to comment on it.

    The Haber Process Question

I had that change according to the molar ratio as well - forgot to say that the eqm was reestablished but. Is the bit about the molar ratio right?

    shipwrecks, corrosion n conservation

I reckon that unless an external wire is introduced it will be a displacement reaction but i'm not sure if the iron would form on the Mg strip or on the bottom of the beaker (or if it would first form on the strip and then later fall down into the bottom of the beaker)

    nice examiners

Everyone at our school i think is allowed to bring in water in a clear bottle. The special needs people can bring in juice and lollies if they need them (most of our special needs people are because of diabeties so they bring in juice and lollies).

    nice examiners

Geez - I didnt know that. Luckily I'm a special needs person so I get all the drink I want!

    shipwrecks, corrosion n conservation

If you connected the two metals to a voltmeter they would record a voltage (electrons would flow through the voltmeter from the magnesium to the iron, just not 100% of them). I'm not certain about the other parts but that i'm 100% on

Anyone else miss the last page of Industrial Chem?

Didnt your presiding officers go over the exam with you beforehand and tell you what question was on each page? That said theres been some people who've missed the last question of our school's maths tests since year 7, and i know how it can happen (i did it once in year 10 or something, and...

    shipwrecks, corrosion n conservation

To tell you the truth i'm starting to swing around to your way of thinking. The way I answered the question but i said that if you connected the two metals to a voltmeter you would get a reading, making it a proper cell. The I answered it made sense in the exam but then again so do a lot of...

    shipwrecks, corrosion n conservation

Point taken, but then its got nothing to do with the option topic. Still, the iron would form on the bottom of the beaker in that case and not on the magnesium strip

    misadventure in exam...dnt get it?

Thanks, I hope you did well too. Honestly theres not much they can do unless there's a considerable difference between your assessment mark and your exam mark, but if it did all fall apart then there's a good chance you can put it back together again. I think you've gotta submit the form in...

    shipwrecks, corrosion n conservation

I'm sure that the iron doesnt form on the magnesium. I'm also sure that you can come up with an argument to say that it will. I still believe that the iron will form on the nail and not on the magnesium or the bottom of the beaker

    Trick question? Shipwrecks and salvage

I came to the same conclusion, and I'm pretty sure its the right one. I dont think it required any kind of genius thinking to work it out, it just required you to know that the reaction can happen in the one beaker. I'm glad i can find a few people to agree with on this one

    shipwrecks, corrosion n conservation

We learnt that even though the reaction occurs in the same vessel it can still be an electron transfer reaction. My teacher was pretty awesome - she knew what she was talking about. Unless i had some kinda misunderstanding I'm almost certain it was a redox reaction. It would be hard to call it a...
