    State rankings

Thanks to you and fleep! All were pretty surprising I've got to say - we all thought we were a dumber year than the one above us, but we beat them. Our history class went so well, too - apart from a few everyone was in band 6. So strange. Anyway congrats to all other BoSers who ranked!!!!

Section II - National Study / Personality

well, i said that the control was limited and spun outta control. but you do realise that the oath was actually very important for the majority of the army - they took the pledge to defend Hitler very seriously indeed. but his main power came after blomberg-fritsch...which disintegrated later.

    Modern History Exam Thoughts (merged)

i swear our class was the funniest. because we hadn't been taught totalitarianism or conservative elites, the "check your page numbers" turned into a raucous hullabaloo. we literally started laughing going "OH MY GOD". so funny!!!! we were uncontrollably laughing for about 10 mins before we...

Section I - WWI and its Aftermath

haha, i was one of the few people who voted for the stalemate on the poll over on the modern history thread...so woot!!! i liked those questions very much - straightforward and nice. good sources, too. eta: stv i did!! the emotive nature of the poem and its persuasive purpose greatly...

Section II - National Study / Personality

hey fleep, i did the six point syndrome, but mixed the analysis within my application. like this: - single party state with mass leader. present through enabling act, etc...but revisionist historians challenge the extent to which this existed due to the polyocracy...blah - control of army -...

Section II - National Study / Personality

totalitarian germany!!!!! i am greatly indebted to you bos people, because without you i would not have learned it. or even, for that matter, really known what it was. so after teaching myself that and freaking my class out, i got that question!! and it was better than i thought it'd be.

Section III - Studies in Peace and Conflict

could not, i stress, could not have been more perfect. we'd done personal assignments on dot points that were given to us, and mine was decolonisation. my friend did allied strategies. those were the only two i bothered. learning. conflict in the pacific, I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!

    Chem of Art people....

How'd you all find it? Gotta say that MnO4- one had me a bit stumped, although thankfully all that stuff was on the standard potentials sheet. Overall, not too bad though. How bout you?

    is it likely....

i assume you mean...deification? haha um that would be great, actually. a hitler-based question. not as great (for me) as collapse of weimar, but not bad at all. the homefront better not be there, but if it is, there better not be another war question and/or a totalitarian one. like i...

    National Studies HISTORIOGRAPHY

no, don't. most HSC markers are fairly cluey. i made up historians in my trial (well, i knew names and ideas but not who said what) because i knew my teacher would be too dumb to realise. and you know what? she was!! hahahaha i got good marks because "my historiography saved me". but don't...

    2005 Germany Hsc

If it is collapse of weimar, jen will be dancing on tables and screaming with happiness. If it is totalitarianism, she will shudder and do what she can after teaching herself with anne mccallum's book (since we didn't touch that at school, and didn't even use mccallum). our stupid teacher...

Who is choosing Chem of Art?

No i think they do industrial. But I don't care about them, because Baulkham Hills is THE school for chem (just look at the top 5 in chem from last year) and THEY do chem of art. Additionally, so does Sydney Grammar. That freaks me out. And soz no idea about the first one.

How did you find the EE1 HSC Paper?

Haha i HATE the feeling of "This is shit, crap, awful, but there's no way in the world I have time to change it" while I'm writing. Felt that once more (last time, was, I believe, the powerplay essay...and just before, the journeys one...and then my modern history trial). My feeling is that the...

    Individual in Society

shit shit shit shit SHIT wonderful essay, but that was mitigated by the shitness of the creative.... i started out with my prepared (suffragette stuff) then realised a few pages in that it would NOT work. as a result i changed it to some guy in exile in france, writing to his friends in...

    3 text warning.

Haha - I've prepared 3 prescribed and 3 related (a Shelley poem, Vanity Fair and the Jane Eyre movie) - but I think it might take me about 2 hours to write an essay on all that. They couldn't possibly ask for textS of your own choice if they ask for three prescribed, can they? They'd say at...

    3 text warning.

apparently once (old syllabus) they asked for 2 texts for years and years....and then asked for 3. throwing everyone for an absolute loop. i dunno, i'm preparing p&p, n&s and browning just in case.

    Solutions

actually, since the first one (15 mins) leaves a 7/16 probability that they will meet, it really does make sense that 17 mins is a 50% (8/16) chance of meeting. you draw the lines and subtract the area of the triangles from the unit square. i think t=1/2 (which is what it must be) would lead...
