If a person finishes uni do they get a job easily?

Well, a lot of it depends upon how well you do at university, whether you do work experience and get involved etc as well. But it's not as if going to uni will guarantee you a job, it improves your chances in most fields but you still have to work for it.

If you were to make a magazine, what sort of magazine would it be?

We almost had a universal student paper, called the Student Leader... but it has ground a halt at the moment. But I would probably make a travel on a budget style publication aimed at the student and backpacker market.

    need advice-changing majors

There are far far far too many apiring journalists in the world for my liking... I graduate at the end of the year, and getting a job is so damn competitive! So many people applying!

    memoirs of a geisha

I think this is a really good review of the film: http://emmainsydney.blogspot.com/2006/01/thoughts-on-memoirs-of-geisha-movie.html

    need advice-changing majors

Changing from one UTS communications degree to another isn't something you can just do on e request, that is more for other faculties like business etc. Changing from writing to journalism is changing degree (each of the communications degrees has a separate course code and everything), and you...

    any Blogspot experts?

If you can use something like photoshop or paintshop pro you can create your own logos and stuff which you can put in to a simple template to make it look fairly stylish fairly simply. For example, I know html and some css but I didn't want to spend ages doing a template from scratch. Both...

    Communications:Roll Call!/Getting to know you!

It's Building 3, Bon Marche. It's on the corner of Broadway and Harris St, just along the side of the tower. It's an old department store... there is a serious lack of natural light in there though.

    Cost of food at uts??

Bringing your lunch isn't a bad idea it will save you heaps. There are microwaves on campus so you can even warm stuff up. If you don't want to bring lunch, see the thread about cheap eats, it might be in the uni general forum. Chinatown has some reasonable cheap food etc but sushi is...

    UTS: Law Orientation Camp

The people on the IT one always have a blast... dunno about the law one though, but seriously it is probably a good thing to get to know people and stuff.

    Communications:Roll Call!/Getting to know you!

I heard a rumour that pass/fail for first year was going and it would be graded from now on.... just a rumour though. But when I did first year it was pass/fail. Yes, some of the first year subjects are a bit dull but things get much better in the second year. Plus some of them aren't too...

    Not enough people getting married.

Even though people are being more selfish these days and it sucks, i don't think it would be right to tell these selfish people to start popping out babies... because otherwise we will just end up with generations of kids who haven't been cared for properly that will become a drain on the...

Well, I'm an oldie but yeah we may all run in to each other so.... Anyway, I'm Ashlee, I'm in my third year at UTS (BA Comm Journo) except I am currently overseas on exchange at the University of Westminster so I will be back at UTS for second semester in August. I lived in Gumal for the...

    HELP!!! writing and cultural studies.

You have to do some cultural studies in the degree, that is implied by the very name of the course. Use the online course handbook to see exactly what subjects you will be doing and what they will involve.

Stupid kid dies from eating stupid food

it truly doesn't surprise me, the vegetables here are crap and so is the fruit. You go to the supermarket and you literally have a choice of potatos, carrots, brocolli and swedes (which i hate! what do you eat swedes with?)... oh and cauliflower of course. The apples are so powdery and ick...

    Social Inquiry

Don't have doubts, social inquiry is a good grounding for a journalism career still. Plus you can possibly do journalism subjects as electives and stuff and media studies and all that. I had a friend that transferred in to law after first year, it's competitive but it is not impossible.
