If you're using data, you could use a module to store Global Data...though it might not be extremely effective, it works. That's what i used for my yr 11 project to transfer names and the like across forms.

Like thingo said, you need to completely reset the modem so it clears the cache of its ip configs. Just pull out the power plug and leave it out for about 5 seconds (no need to wait for a full minute) and then plug it back in AFTER you have switched from USB to cat5 =)
