    Where to after Graduation?

Koube, I think you need to come to the chilling realisation that people are more than what they study at uni. In fact, what you study at uni means jack all. A degree with management major increasing ones chances of becoming a CEO? That's about as good as saying eating milo is going to...

What careers could these majors in econs/commerce lead to?

    1. You do realise many people with non-commerce degrees get into investment banking? 2. Commerce IS an arts degree with a business-world theme. Hence why in places such as the UK the same degree is called a BA.. Enough said I think? 3. Everything an IB grad needs to know is taught...

What careers could these majors in econs/commerce lead to?

Just remember that commerce is essentially an arts degree; management being one of the more airy lines of study. Ask yourself now. Do you learn management skills from a textbook or from real-world experience? And there you shall find the answer as to why there are no graduate management...

    Cadetships 2008/09

Re: Cadetships 2007 There are no cadetships for advisory services at the moment... Even in graduate positions I've heard of some people having to do a year or so assurance experience before moving into their sector of advisory.

    Where to after Graduation?

You plan to be a CEO?.. I believe many CEO's start somewhere from the bottom in the department of they manage? A CEO for example may be selected from a director in accounts, finance, information systems, marketing etc... who in turn was once a manager in accounts/finance/marketing etc... etc...

    Funds Management

From what I've heard honours students have good chances for ib etc. also. From what I've seen a big part of it is who you know etc. these places have lots of positions they don't even bother advertising.

    Commerce, Business, Economics, or Finance?!

Commerce gives you more options whilst economics forces you to major in economics. So basically aim for BCom and if you dont get in BEcon... Either way you can study economics and other commerce fields.

Should I Drop To General Maths From 2unit! Help! :(

Yes, of course. But the point is, certain degrees require varying abilities at maths. The maths isn't going to get any easier at uni.

Should I Drop To General Maths From 2unit! Help! :(

If you plan to study engineering, science or commerce at university, you'll help yourself by being good at 2unit. Yes 2U can get hard but remember that most of the exam will always be pretty easy, as in nothing more than applying basic rules/concepts. "DO IT!!! it will be the best thing for...

    Mid-tier firms/big4 and salaries

^ Where on earth did you pull that from? Big4 contracts are initially offered for two years of full-time work. All salaries are reviewed around the financial year and (generally) increased.

    Bachelor of Accounting

^ Not really no.. they do however expect you to know things like 'why accounting', 'what do you want out of ____', etc. This may be obvious, but you should know what you're getting yourself into and why.

Is english (writing skills) a big part of commerce/business?

^ Heh.. Tell me about it. 10-minute presenation... I went straight after an international student. Most advantageous juxtaposition of speaking ability ever.

    Co-op vs Cadetship

I thought generally all CA firms had to recruit under the CA guidelines... A HR manager told me that under the program, they're each allocated certain days that they're *allowed* to interview people and that the offer deadline all have to coincide. The only exceptions to this rule that I saw...

    Co-op vs Cadetship

I had this enormous dilemma post-all of the offers. While I'd say don't count your chickens until they hatch, I can understand where you're coming from. Co-ops are def. a much easier lifestyle, however co-ops will not even touch the depth of work that a cadet will. This is the experience...

    Mid-tier firms/big4 and salaries

In mid-tier you interact with the same smaller group of people more often... This can turn out to be either great or horrific. Some mid-tier + Big4 = highest salaries. Yes mid-tier generally seem to promote somewhat faster, however ranks don't correspond at all. (A manager in a smaller...

BRW Top 100 Accounting Firms 2006

Re: BRW Top 100 accounting firms If they're understaffed and having a busy audit season then they should either pay you more, or increase their fees then pay you more. Don't EVER feel sorry for them.
