    Semester 2, 2011 Results Thread

4th year law marks are out (I suspect most law results would thus be out).

    question about timetable

Yep. Its annoying in that you don't get your timetable until really close to semester, but its good in that you don't have to worry about missing out on classes because we can just pre-enrol in anything and not worrying about them filling up (ie. friends at unsw seem to regularly miss out on...

    question about timetable

personalised timetables normally come out about a week or two before semester starts. You can look up the actual timetable of individual subjects through the timetabling unit on myuni (which gives the times of lectures and tutorials) - this can give you an idea of what your timetable may look...

    Advice about commerce at usyd?

The best thing you can do is contact the university and ask them whether the scholarship can apply to a combined commerce/law degree. If it does then you're fine and you can put USYD comm/law first than USYD commerce second or whatever. If you can't then you have to prioritise what you...

    Prepping for B Arts

you won't find the subjects in the UAC guide. The subjects available in a B Arts will be available on the university website for whichever uni you want to go to. Generally there will be a arts faculty handbook available for download which lists individual subjects and what you can major in. I...

    Shortening Degree Length?

Also be prepared to pay for it - summer and winter school at usyd are full fee. So you can get fee-help (ie. get loan from the government, but there's a 25% loan fee), but its not subsidised by the government. Eg. Hecs law subject (normal semester) = $1080. Summer school law subject = $3700...

A Day In The Life of a Law Student

You're not alone :) I (and the rest of 4th yr law) only just finished half an hour ago. Exam had some pretty evil multiple choice as well- gosh I hate those kind of questions!

    Getting into Law...

UNDA's law school is very new - i'm pretty sure its first law year will only be graduating this year (that's how new it is). However i don't think all spots at UNDA are full fee paying, i'm pretty sure there are some CSP places available (although not sure if available in law, perhaps only...

A Day In The Life of a Law Student

haha that's great! Although unfortunately I don't think any my exams so far this semester have had any kind of fun scenarios or names. They've all been pretty bland :( I think I remember actually laughing in my crim law exam because of the silliness of the factual scenario, if only because life...

A Day In The Life of a Law Student

Because they are assessing if you can apply your knowledge to the factual scenario. You have to think. You can't just recite rules or principles. Trust me, its actually a lot more difficult then it sounds, and a lot of people can struggle with it. For example. Property mid-semester exam we had...

A Day In The Life of a Law Student

The reading time is to read the questions, pick which ones you are going to do, and allow you to start planning answers. When the factual scenarios are quite long, its really good to have that time. What makes exams difficult is the application of what you've learnt - the rules, the...

A Day In The Life of a Law Student

depends on the subject and the lecturers. Generally, there will always be at least one problem question - one page factual scenario and either a 'advise x' or shorter subquestions you have to answer based on the problem. This is pretty standard for law. Although my corporations exam had a two...

    Women's college scholarship

oh i see where the $23,000 came from - you're talking about the cost comparison on the website? I was just calculating on the actual fees paid to the college (which includes accommodation and meals). The cost comparison is an estimate done by the college of the fees plus other things you may...

    Women's college scholarship

half scholarships are pretty difficult i reckon. However you will never know until you apply. Are you from the country or are you from sydney? however I just wanted to look at where you were getting your figures for $23k. Looking at the fees this year, it is $432 per week. It will probably go...

    Women's college scholarship

Hey - glad to see you are applying to women's! I definitely recommend it. :) College fees are expensive, but I'm pretty sure they are less than $20k - perhaps $14-15k when I last looked (although they do go up every year). Women's have a wide variety of specific scholarships (such as the...

A Day In The Life of a Law Student

in summary: fun yet tiring/stressful. little sleep was had the past couple of days. luckily now though I've only got exam to go next thursday, and its open book. The only downside is its probably one of the more complex/confusing subjects ive done this semester (real property).

    How does transfering course work?

Can you get into just B Science at UNSW? If so, I reckon that may be the best one to do if you don't get into B Science (Advanced Maths). In most degrees involving science there are set first year compulsory subjects that everyone has to do (eg. chem, physics, maths etc). It is likely (although...

Any University Accommodation that doesn't require you to pay upfront?

Definitely the norm for usyd colleges. to be honest, since the majority are from private schools, I don't think some parents think its that much different from paying private school fees up front (except college is actually cheaper)...

Any University Accommodation that doesn't require you to pay upfront?

I'm pretty sure one of the ANU colleges I know requires upfront payment in like December prior to the academic year (my sister had some difficulties getting it back when she transferred uni's). I think it really is up to the individual colleges.
