Legalise Weapons in Australia? So we can be like Americans?

Well actually the gun laws are already to constricted. A lot of rifles, owned in the majority by farmers who use them in their day to day lives, were declared illegal. This was in response to an intellecutal in the government who reckoned that criminals were about to embark upon a spree with...

    Big Brother

I speed by habit on backroads (so do a lot of people, of all ages), and I sure as hell don't want my parents knowing that (whether they do the same or not). It does also mean that you can't sneak off anywhere, which is a bit of a bitch when it comes down to it. Still, my parents would not care...

'Guest workers' and Australia's labour shortage

Current labour shortage? What the hell are the people on the dull and some such if not potential workers? Shouldn't the jobs first be filled by those on our welfare system before workers are shipped into Australia.

The coaliton has control of the Senate

When I started writing this post their were no replies. Serves me right for having the window open for five minutes before I even read the thread.

The coaliton has control of the Senate

As far as a I know he'll pretty much have the ability to do what he likes. Since Liberals hold the majority in both opposition from outside the party isn't a threat. As long as the Liberal party doesn't have a domestic they'll get through all the laws they like. The Governor General could...

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (SPOILERS!)

Read all these after the HSC. Brilliant series. Marvin was the best character, pity he died.

left and right wingers - im confused!

I was dead in the middle for Authorative and Liberal but more towards the left on the across axis. That political compass is a good diagram to explain the differences in politics, it shows the difference between Socialism and Communism which gets mixed up often.

Do you think the average Australian hates America/ns and if so why?

People just get annoyed with the constant American crap on TV Oh yeah, and for some reason all their presidents seem to speak real slow and sound docile. And some people resent the influx of American culture and the use of Americanisms. I've heard this directly or indirectly from lots...

    The 2007 NSW election- cynicism

Both parties are pretty much interchangeable. The only reason to vote one out and the other in is to make them think their place isn't safe so they have to get off their arse and do something to get voters behind them.

Omg- Harry Potter 6 is complete!

Yeah I thought Sirius, Lupin and Pettigrew all looked wrong. And Krum in that picture looks like a footy player, complete opposite of the sort of guy who is supposed to be a quick, nimble seeker. I just remembered something I read the other day. The first draft or so of Book 6 is finished...

Juliet Marillier - The Sevenwater Trilogy

Yeah I read them. My sister left the first one lying around and I was bored. Turned out to be a good idea. The characters are very real and you can sort of feel for them. Sorcha and Liadin were similiar. Fainne was so different, even her speech was different, you know the expressions and...

Omg- Harry Potter 6 is complete!

The half blood prince could conceivably be any of the characters. In The Chamber of Secrets, the book that JK herself said was almost going to be about the half blood prince, Ron says a line in the book that makes it to the movie, only to be said by Hagrid. It goes something like this...

    the big names of politics

At least she's in touch with the average person. More than I can say for Howard and Latham. And politcs should require a little more than an education. It should require things you don't learn at university such as ideals. On another note, I doubt George Bush is in touch with reality...

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

What the fuck do you eat? And where the fuck do you think it comes from?

Social responsibility - should it be expected from business?

The only responsibility companies have is to their share holders? I wonder if they consult their share holders on activities that affect society. After all their share holders come from society.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA)

Not knowing whether this has been cleared up or not I'll just say this. Skip the next paragraph if someone has mentioned this before: Museling is the removal of loose skin around the sheep's anus to prevent fly strike. Fly strike is when flies land in the soiled wool and lay their eggs. The...

    Does God Exist?

I think perhaps, that the whole point of faith is to believe in something without proof.

    One Nation racist

I don't think Pauline Hanson is racist, after watching an interview with her, and I think she didn't set out to create a racist party. I doubt they're a racist party. Such accusations are probably stirred by the hype from the media or people hit to close to home by her words.
