We're all going on a... SUMMER HOLIDAY! (Chatter thread)

Sorry for the double post, but just a question to te Science students: The Bachelor of Science allows for up to 48 credit points of Non-Science units of study to be included in the 3-year program. Junior Econometrics (ECMT units) and General Statistical Methods (STAT units) are specifically...

    Class of 06: what uni/course u doing ?

The only difference between B Science (adv) and B Science (adv maths) is that with the latter, you must major in adv maths.

I've brought this up with other moderators/admins.

    B Pharm or B Sc(Adv)?

I'm not too sure about your first question. *Looks at Nit* :p I've read somewhere that you should do honours, and then a phD or Masters degree if you would like to lecture. I have to look into this one more, though. :)

We're all going on a... SUMMER HOLIDAY! (Chatter thread)

That's weird. I think I was able to pre-enrol in advanced physiology last year (although I didn't end up doing it). I was considering doing it in second semester until I heard the department is apparently very disorganised.

We're all going on a... SUMMER HOLIDAY! (Chatter thread)

Don't you only need a WAM of 65 to do advanced physiology?

We're all going on a... SUMMER HOLIDAY! (Chatter thread)

You can access the central timetable, not your personal timetable (which will be available during o week) . Basically, it just gives you the timetable for each individual subject. Everyone who posted up their timetable have prepared it themselves (like myself, the MasterChef :p). You can access...

    Here's the timetable I prepared.

    is this stupid?

Your first preference should be the course you would like to do most. My first preference happened to have a cut-off above my UAI, but I still managed to receive an offer in the main round regardless that the cut-off was above my UAI for that year as well. The point is, you have no idea whether...

    Query on doing med science

In first year, you will need to do chemistry. There is, however, a fundamentals Chemistry course available for both semesters in first year if you have not done HSC chemistry.

    Science Subjects

Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Senior Science. As far as I know, if you do Senior Science, you can't do any other science, but I'm not sure if this is completely true.

    uni preferences- should i bother?

If it is what you want to do, then leave it as your first preference. You never know, the cut-off may decrease this year, and even if it doesn't you may still be accepted. It would not be a waste of a preference, unless you want to do something else other than that (but you have 9 preferences...

    Open Day Bos Meat

I don't think I'm going. I'm either going to Parramatta/laser challenging with Justin, his family and friends, or I'm doing something with my mum (depending if she has something planned for the day). I'll probably be there at o-week, though. :)

    Subject Reviews (with PDF compilation)

Re: Subject Reviews - UPDATED WITH .PDF on first post I was actually referring to the lecturers overall. But I agree that Prof. Warr was good. My bad about the labs. I forgot I did two chem subjects, meaning I had labs from weeks 1-13.

How far can course cutoffs fluctuate/?

You may still be able to make it into B Science (adv) in the main round. I was accepted in the main round with a UAI more than one point below the cut-off. Nonetheless, don't get your hopes up either. Good luck. :)

    BSc(advanced) @ UNSW or BSc @ USYD

From the University of Sydney website (faculty of science): A Weighted Average Mark (WAM) is the average mark in the units of study completed by a student, weighted according to the credit point value and academic level of the particular unit. Say you did 4 subjects per semester, each worth 6...

    BSc(advanced) @ UNSW or BSc @ USYD

The requirements for honours at usyd aren't that high. For chemistry, you only need a WAM of 65 and a credit in senior chemistry.

    B Pharm or B Sc(Adv)?

B Science (adv) is more flexible. There are many different fields you can work in with a science degree (research, uni lecturing, or both, etc), and the wages vary. Apparently, much of the staff from the school of chemistry earn over 100K a year. Also, I think the starting salary for B Science...

Post your 2006 HSC results here!

You shouldn't really care what other people think. If you are happy with it, and it enables you to get into the course you would like to do (assuming you want to go to uni), then that's all that matters. :)
