I got 92 in continuers and didn't do my extension paper - which I'm semi-regretting now just for the practice. Oh well!

Hey McLake - I'd really appreciate some advice. I've lost all faith in my teacher and as a result I'm feeling really insecure and starting to panic. I also had to have emergency surgery last term which meant missing the trials and vital practise time. Would you mind setting me straight on a...

BA (languages, media and communications, advanced)

I was toying with the idea of arts advanced too, but in the end, I went for arts languages - I'm not sure if this is right, but I think you have to do an honours year with arts advanced which didn't appeal to me as much as the exchange program with the languages degree - the main thing is that...

    Extension German

I love it, although my teacher is a real slave driver (which is probably good in the long run!) Not only does it scale really well, but it improves your continuers too. The HSC speaking is quite daunting, but at least you get it out of the way in August. My advice - go for it, you've...

Welcome to French class of 2003

emily, try "Le journal" each day at 9am on SBS, keep those writing tasks coming and, as you say, reading is a good idea. I don't believe there is such thing as "French cramming". It is a progressive skill that you build up, so I'm sure you're much more prepared than you think you are!

    Why German?

That's pretty cool! I was already doing French, and I had to chose another language between Latin and German. I went for German because I wanted to be able to apply my speaking skills. Six years down the track, I get a kick out of the fact that I can communicate in a different language, so I...

Extension French (Info answering the question "Should I do it?")

French Ext is one of the best things I ever did - obviously the scaling is a major plus, but like you, I was faced with a dilemma as to if it was really worth it. Someone said to me, you basically have nothing to lose - you can drop it at any stage and in the meanwhile, your French will be...
