Q&Q - Have a problem with rutherford scattering experiment.

.... gold has a heavy atom, so it will rebound the alpha particle rather be knocked around... Did u mean gold's atoms are heavy? rather than be knocked around? what do u mean? with all atoms wouldnt the alpha particles deflect( is this what u mean by rebound?), but it may deflect off...

Q&Q - Have a problem with rutherford scattering experiment.

Why do alpha particles deflect by the thin gold foil?? Why not any material?? I thought the deflection was just because of repulsion of the alpha particle and the nucleus, so the repulsive power should be the same regardless of the material shouldnt it?? The book says its because of...

    Complex Numbers - Q

... I dont know, maybe i should add w= z-1/z ( given) which is what yielded the expressions for u and v in terms of x and y.[so really u should be able to work backwards to see that for urself, right?) if z=0 w is undefined????? Is that right??? "PS Truemathematician is a...

    Complex Numbers - Q

.. HAHA IM NOT DRUNK I knew the answer for the locus was x=0 but we exclude the origin (0,0) why?????????????????? And thanx wogboy, the book didnt include it goes from (0,-2) to (0,2) haha- they missed something, and u missed we exclude the origin.

    Complex Numbers - Q

    Given w=u+iv , u = x - x/(x^2+y^2) ,v = y + y/(x^2+y^2) and that x^2 + y^2=1 Find the locus of w PLZ RESPOND QUICKLY!!! haha Thanks

    Space - DP Problem

... I think u are correct. Can u plz explain to me why they are re-usable? And in the textbook it says the older spacecrafts used 'ablative' material , made of fibreglass also????

Space - Error in Physics Text Books

HAHA. I think there is an error associated with the reasoning in the textbooks as to why so much heat is generated during re-entry. They say the high heat is due to fast friction with the atmospheric layer and the spacecraft. However i believe most heat is due to compression of the air...

    Space - DP Problem

... oh shit. Sorry my mistake. You are right, and i meant to write down what u said, but got tired .... lol btw u make errors too lol I don't think that orbital velocity does not increase with radius as you asserted u meant I don't think that orbital velocity does increase with...

CSSA Question on Ionising Energy (Quanta to Quarks)

..... For some reason the 1st ionising energy is the electrons total energy in the stationary state given by E(n)= - ( 2pi k^2 e^4 m)/(h^2 n^2) I got this from the excel - it works out to be 13.6eV but i dont know why or if we are required to know this formula along with the other...

    Elementary Particle Dynamics Q

Plz solve this q for me. The combined air and road resistance of a car in motion is proportional to v^2 , where v is its speed. When the engine is disengaged the car moves down an incline making an angle InverseSine(1/30) with the horizontal, with a velocity of 30m/s . Find the force required...

Speed of light in a vacuum?

... No u can travel to future but not past(according to relativity). According to some relativity and gravity unification theory u can travel to past and u will think irrationaly(uni work, i heard this from someone)

    quick relativity question

.. yeah i was hoping for a different answer. I saw this on a site , and was unhappy with this formula cause even i can derive this formula to make c remain fastest speed(in relative velocity too). Seems like an excuse. So i was thinkin of that light effect when u pass light through cesium gas...

    quick relativity question

Relativity Q A Spacecraft is moving at 0.999c in one direction and another at 0.6c in the other. Does that mean Velocity relative to each other is greater than c ? Thats impossible!
