    newspaper articles aren't always in polite form. http://www.asahi.com/national/update/0323/TKY200503230243.html if you see this site you can see it's written in plain form. i dunno, just be sure of what the HSC markers want :D good luck

    my friend came first in the state in continuers and extension, she was pure aussie, although she did spend a year in japan and being a girl and highly motivated she made the most of the opportunity and hasn't looked back. me on the other hand hehehe

    almost all the text types you're required to be able to do are in plain form, at least they were when i was studying jap 2 years ago. i think the only time you want to use polite -masu form is in formal letters to elders, people you don''t know, letters to employers, teachers, authors etc...

    sorry i haven't replied sooner. my japanese improved a lot but i had a year between hsc japanese and uni so i've lost quite a bit, even though usyd has put me in the adv reading course :( ah well. i'm at usyd doing comm/arts, currently studying japanese, mandarin, accounting and microeconomics...

    i studied this book in 2003 so it's been a while and i dont know the complete context of the sentence so after all the disclaimer... "nano" usually just means that its an explanation; emphasising or underlining the point of the sentence in the same way its used in "nano de" if that makes sense...

    i went to japan for 10 months in 2003/03 with AFS. it was an awesome time, i wish i was back there now instead of trying to regain my lost japanese now at uni :( hopefully ill go back sometime soon

    im not sure about the end amount that you pay but the only reason FEE courses cost so much per year is that you are paying up front instead of having the amount deferred until you reach a certain income level. when you reach that income you start paying back the government for your tuition so...
