There is a technique in answering those long responses, which is simple once you know it, but can lose you many many marks if you don't. It is more of a English language skill than a musical skill. Therefore, a private teacher, without prior experience, will not be able to help in any way.

don't worry about it. in an exam, it will always be specified, through having a question like.. "show that the equation of motion is represented by ..." though, yes, you're right. both are possible. k could very well be k'm, where k' is another constant.

a student who goes to PASS in the first place probably wants to do well. so that's an almost meaningless statistic. (possibly it even has a detrimental effect, though i'm not suggesting anything)
