i went to the ext2 maths one and must say it was a waste of time. lack of mathematical rigour, a lot of "this is how we do it", and unnecessary jokes "there are no stupid questions... only stupid people" from a Hoang. i didn't think a lot of people would be back for the real fee-incurring lessons.

Textbooks don't reflect exam style questions. The only one that does that to any adequate degree is Phoenix, which is a "questions practice" textbook anyway. As a result, by doing a lot of textbook questions, you get the wrong idea about how to approach exams, and are unable to appreciate...

you are seriously disadvantaged though, having only done 3 unit, in terms of trying to get a state ranking. doing 4unit just means you get better at all the 3unit topics :) especially with the tricky projectile motions question last year.

having a plus sign (+) could imply a reaction, rather than just simply being attached. so, it's a way of minimising the ambiguity.

it seems surprising that you managed only 94 in adv, considering the 50 for ext1. was there a particular thing that caused it? i mean, it's still a great mark, but just not an acme, which 50 in ext1 is. did you state rank in ext1?

alternatively, you can use factor theorem on the root itself. if P(a) = 0, then a is a root. so find P(root5-1)
