Yes, this is a 'plan' for your subjects whether they be cores or electives: Macquarie Law, Program of Study So I presume its LAW 114 Semester 1, then whatever subjects for your Arts degree. (btw, you usually finish your other degree (non-law) by the 3rd year)

Most rankings won't matter to first years, since you're not involved in research at all.

The course may not be full, and so the 'cut off' was set by the uni for PR reasons., you may have also got in through some other factor.
