2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

House of Reps and half-Senate election. Parliament prorogues Monday noon, dissolves Wednesday noon. Rolls will close on 22 October (apparently, I don't know what's going on there). Election 24 November. Howard: "Country does not need new leadership ... needs the right leadership." Blah blah...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Yeah, the register is for all three levels of election. (When are the next local elections, by the way? The comedy that is Blue Mountain City Council only gets better at election time. Last election we had Kilner 'I own three houses, and if I win I'll buy one in the ward I'm standing for' Mason...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

Newsflash: Howard has flown to Canberra, and will probably announce tomorrow, as speculated. Which means I'll be watching TV religiously all tomorrow instead of doing my archaeology essay which is due on Monday. Dammit...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

As a follower of the Way of Toby Ziegler, I don't want to tempt fate by saying that Howard will definitely lose. But it being probable does make me quite cheerful. Unfortunately, before we get to election day we have 6+ weeks of electoral advertising to endure. Hopefully the govt has written...

2007 Federal Election - Coalition or Labor/Howard or Rudd?

I normally love election season, but I'm already over it this year. Not actually sure why that is, though.

    Uai Prediction

There's no formula that you can use to estimate aligned marks or anything. Aligned marks are equivalent to Bands - so 90-100 aligned is Band 6, 80-89 aligned is Band 5 and so on. So find the band descriptions - the things talking about what you need to do to end up in each band - on the Board...

    Semester 2 Chatter Thread (2007)

Re: Semester II Chatter Thread! Refusing to use the term 'sudden death' is hardly equivalent to having sympathy for the murdered. Apparently a HSTY unit next year dealing directly with the middle ages can't be crosslisted to Medieval Studies. Mysterious.

    Semester 2 Chatter Thread (2007)

Re: Semester II Chatter Thread! Yep, says on the UAC website that it's cancelled. Plus the ARIN junior courses aren't running in 2008, so looks like they're winding up the department as well.

    Studying political science/international relations

International relations-wise, the most obvious career is working in the diplomatic service. However, this is very competitive - DFAT's primary intake of graduates has about 25 places a year, and something like 2000 people apply. (There are other intakes for Aborigines/Torres Strait Islanders and...

    Semester 2 Chatter Thread (2007)

Re: Semester II Chatter Thread! Neb: totally agree. Physical chemistry sucks the big one, organic chemistry is awesome. Someone help me decide whether to start Latin next year or in third year.

Anyone Planning To Do Full Fee Paying ?

Yeah, you have to pay the non-school leaver fee, which is about $47. I think the transfer cutoff is normally lower than the Y12 cutoff, but don't quote me on that. It's mos def lower for the course I'm applying to transfer into.

Anyone Planning To Do Full Fee Paying ?

Transferring between CSP and DFEE: it's handled in much the same way as initial application to uni, so you have to apply for the transfer through UAC. A distinction average is reasonably achievable. If you're smart enough to get into Pharmacy in the first place, and you have any sort of ability...

    Australian Citizenship Test

Since 2002 Australia has allowed dual citizenship, whereas previously if you actively acquired another citizenship you would lose your Australian one. Now you can have as many as you like and your Australian citizenship will be unaffected. I have Australian citizenship, and British citizenship...

The Official "I GOT THE JOB!!!:D:D" Thread

Got a Christmas job at my mate's stepmum's hamper business. Mainly warehousey duties, moving around boxes from delivery to the packing area. So completely unsuited to thin and unmuscled me, but at least it's something to do over the holidays. Starting in November. Hooray for nepotism :)

    Unit of Study Outline Exchange

I'm procrastinating from my GOVT essay, so here's ARNE1001 Archaeology of the Near East. I also have ANHS1005 Power and Persuasion in Rome and HSTY1088 Australian History: An Introduction, but BoS isn't letting me upload them for some reason, so I'll do them later. Has anyone got...
