    Competing Narratives

There is alot of extremely selective quoting in that post PwarYuex. Let's start from the top. Maybe if you had actually read what I said you would have noticed that I said that you probably could fabricate enough information to do so. Also did you perhaps examine the historiography of said...

    Word limits

While shorter is not necessarily better you should only add to your story if it, well... adds to your story :) Rather than thinking what you could add, think about what you could remove or change. If something doesn't add to the flow or feel of your story it shouldn't be there.

    Development Environments

With this major project I've been practicing up my C++ but one thing that really drive's me mad is trying to create a GUI. There simply aren't any good development environments for creating a GUI C++ program. I usually use notepad, Dev-C++ and Borland (unfortunately doesn't work in x64). I can...

    Postmodernism

Surely you realise very few people are going to bother reading all that and I hardly feel it is going to help anyone struggling with the concepts.

    Competing Narratives

I would like to see you write a 30 page document, examining the historiography of the topic, solely about US officials attempting to influence wikipedia. I am sure you could fabricate enough information to do so, but I hardly think it would be given a great mark. What sources would you use...

    truth..

"Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind." — George Orwell "In a time of universal deceit — telling the truth is a revolutionary act." — George Orwell "You may fool all the people some of the time...

What are people creating for the HSC?

The tricky part of modelling is animation though, how you handling that? Hmm maybe I will try to program an engine and instead of making a game add some sought of rendering/visualisation tool over the top as this will take a lot less time. Also, if you want seom help here are a couple of good...

    Competing Narratives

In and of itself it may not make for a good topic. But when taken in a broader context it would definately be a topic worth considering.

What case studies are you doing?

I know, that's the main reason I prefer Thucydides, because I haven't done him for the last 4 years! But I thought Randall was taking Thucydides?

    Postmodernism

Yep, post-modernism can be pretty annoying sometimes. Bruce here is right though, post-modernism started in architecture and has since spread to other forms of expression. Then again, neither can you take any post-modernist particularly seriously. If you take them seriously you don't grasp the...

What are people creating for the HSC?

I suppose using an already existing architecture would be similar to using excel or access to develop a program, except on a more sophisticated level. Dr_Doom are you doing it just because it's an area of interest or for career reasons? Also I hope the people developing their own engines know...

    C++

In regard to what makes C++ uniques: There is no one function/characteristic that can really make one language unique, only the combination of characteristics and the syntax used. You will find that for anything you may want to do there will be more than one language which can do it. Pirate and...

What are people creating for the HSC?

I've noticed a few of you are doing games. I have to ask, are you guys writing your engines from scratch or are you utilising a pre-existing architexture. I ask because writing a 3D engine is pretty complex and time consuming and I'm not sure whether using a pre-existing engine would be acceptable.

    Yay! Sdd 2 Go

Our school has 3 teachers who could teach software design: a good one, a capable one and an idiot. I was lucky enough to get the good teacher. Also, SDD may not be a programming course but having done programming does greatly assist in understanding alot of the ideas.

    Hyperlinks

Let's see if I can remember this, it still doesn't work sometimes and I could never work out why. in the body tag use link="colour" alink="colour" and vlink="colour" LINK sets the colour for hyperlinks. ALINK sets the colour of active hyperlinks and VLINK sets the colour for visited...

    Endless Loop on Hyperthreaded/Multi-core CPU?

If you create the program using an tool such as Visual Studio there is a higher chance that it will perform actions that you are not aware of and hence result in a crash. Also if it references to API features or GUI elements inside the loop it will chew up memory and eventually the OS will throw...

    SDD Major Project Ideas

The idea I'm currently developing is a secure data storage and transaction system. It runs up to 256 bit, triple layer, randomly-generated unique key encryption. The key itself is encrypted using a hardwired algorithm which also contain random elements. I'm currently working on the server-side...

    National Studies HISTORIOGRAPHY

The number of times you reference historians all depends on what your argument is and what the criteria for the task says on the matter. If people here do ext. his then you'll know that in modern history it's a risky business to go against the desired answer, as opposed to the more open...
