UTS has TWO courses with a 99.9 cut-off this year :x

This seems right. I have been reading numerous articles on the shortage of engineers and scientists lately, and the courses becoming less popular these days. This has been noticed by others as well. Have a look at this article titled 'Which Degree? Fashion Design or Science?' published in...

UTS has TWO courses with a 99.9 cut-off this year :x

609290 B Design Vis Comm BA Int Stds 99.90 609260 B Design-Fash&Tex BA Int Stds 99.90  Isn't this one bizarre change in our culture? Are we coming to an age where designers are the new lawyers/doctors? I always knew the design school at UTS is prestigious but 99.9 seems radical and...

Top 100 University Courses by UAI

I just found an interesting chart system that someone took the time and efforts to make (although i think he/she stopped after year 2005, unless someone can find them) http://www.mickeylieu.com/mambo/index.php?option=content&task=view&id=589&Itemid=2 " 1. B Medicine/Surgery UNSW B...

Just wanted to let you know.......

lol this is so funny. in an industry like fashion, shouldn't you be thanking yourself (or your parents for their creative genes or your educational institution) for your talent, instead of some dodgy job recruiting website LOL

    communications degrees

you've got your facts right. uts pretty much lives off their reputation of their communications degree and also their design degrees. (In fact these are the only two fields in which they have the highest number of first preference in the state, beating out usyd and unsw)...

which uni has the most reputable architecture program?

but that chart is student survey filled opinions... That chart places most of unis in NSW in the 'least happy' column. but i always felt the architecture faculty at UTS gets overshadowed by their Design faculty, which has an undeniably good reputation in the design industry.

What will you major at uni? :)

I have an odd feeling that this new 'bonus scheme' that UTS started this year is only going to make the uai cut-offs go up even higher. Hence at the end of the day you will still need a high uai anyway. I'm assuming it will go up by 5 to 95 and to get the benefits you have to achieve...

B Design (VISUAL COMMUNICATION) [uai cutoffs/questions/help]

The other way of getting in is through their non current school leaver method, which involves a tedious and strict selective method, where you have to surpass 3 stages of selection criteria. 1st stage - 2500 word personal statement. (They review them all and if you are successful you move...

    DESPERATE TO GO TO UTS!

I think this thread should be used to discuss tips on 'getting in' through the non current school leaver method. Considering most people posting here are 'desperate in getting in,' I'm assuming they don't have the uai or is hoping for a transfer after realising how unsuited their...

BDesign (VC) @ UTS vs BDigital Media @ COFA

i know.. i feel COFA/UNSW Design is a tad directionless.. We don't even have that many industry connections except for our BFA course which is truly one of the best option for having a successful career as an artist..

    Vis com-Design/Tech, Visual Arts, etc?

anyways, though not mandatary, it is recommended that you have some studies in visual arts, (I would assume people who would want to be designers have considerable interest in the field of aesthetics and creativity) as for the cut-off being so high, do your best and apply anyway in hopes for...

    Vis com-Design/Tech, Visual Arts, etc?

ew. im sorry but engineering and visual communication design has a very little relationship, unless it's INDUSTRIAL design. (which has engineering to some degree) vis com is all sorts of communication design from print media to web media to film media etc. jobs nclude: graphic designer...

    Bach. Design COFA

i seriously do not recommend B Design at COFA if you already know what you want to become. You will be forced to make jewelry out of leaves and learn to use the industrial design like workshop to make objects. (and no it doesnt cater for fashion) Just choose Interior Design at UTS if you...

BDesign (VC) @ UTS vs BDigital Media @ COFA

yes uts is better for design.. i know too many ppl that have dropped out of the UNSW B Design program (for various reasons, mostly because it wasn't so professionally orientated. some said it wasn't geared for fashion, other said it wasn't very 'graphic design.' i honestly don't know what B...

UTS is the BEST for Design by far. Also a bachelors degree is a higher qualification than a diploma.

Career oppurtunities after doing B. International Studies?

i think with international studies, it's best if you combine it with something else you have a passion for. (As Int Studies literally can be combined with everything and anything these days) But, these combined degrees normally have a higher cut-off...

thats so nice that you have an aunty that went to uts. i heard too much bad things about billy blue, i dont think its worth it. check out the 'private schools' section of BOS forums. Theres so many billy blue graduates who felt it was a waste of money and gave them false hopes.
