the one in y=(lnx - 1)^3 is vertical isn't it? the y=+- infinity thing is always vertical you can look at the graph of y=log x... which may be useful to memorise... it goes down near x=0 to negative infinity, so y=(lnx - 1) will do the same, and so will y=(lnx - 1)^3
