    Need help badly... Complex Numbers

    (1+w+3w^2)^2 = (1+w+w^2 + 2w^2)^2 = (0 + 2w^2)^2 = 4w^4

    graphing (need help)

to find asy, take the limit as x -> infinity and -infinity try to get something of the form 1/x since as x-> infinity, 1/x = 0 and so it disappears and you've made the expression simpler in this Q, divide both sides by x^3

    Need help badly... Complex Numbers

since I'm here I might as well answer ur Q.. (note: when I started typing aural hadnt replied) 7. unity = 1 (also if u see the term "unit circle" later, it means circle of radius one, centred at origin) cube root is.. the third root... w is the cube root of 1 so w^3 = 1 let z^3 = 1 and...

The 2004 HSC - Jeff Geha's Mathematics Solutions

I believe it's not possible to identify whether tywebb and buchanan are using the same machine. It's possible to show that the two machines are currently having the same IP address at the time of detection but that is not enough to conclude that the two machines are the same machine. It is...

    Bored of complex numbers

who says complex number is the easiest topic :p I hate those which involve some geometrical interpretation polynomial should be the easiest IMO (note: this excludes HSC Q8(b) polynomial :p :p) Actually polynomial questions in the HSC are harder than the complex number questions. But in...

    Trignometric inequations

or u can do some sort of inspection from the quad formula u have sin(x)=0.700948797 OR -0.880948797 for 0 < x < 2pi, x = 0.7767, 2.3649, 4.219, 5.2053 (assuming there is no human error) you want 16cosx=3+12sinx just substitute the four x values using this machine called calculator...

    series question

actually T(n)= T(n-1) + T(n-2) + T(n-3) for all integers n>=1 if you define the following: T(-1) = -1 T(-2) = 1 T(-3) = 1 :p I know I'm not helping haha... btw for less enthusiastic maths students, this sort of questions is very unlikely to be asked in hsc exams. the syllabus only...

    Vector Question

    LOL.. its really easy to make a new thread since they "bisect" at 90 degrees (actually they dont bisect since z1-z2 has its tail at the origin), arg (z1 + z2)/(z1 - z2) = 90 (or -90) because arg x/y = arg x - arg y (z1 + z2)/(z1 - z2) = r cis(+- 90) cos (+-90) = 0 so the real part...

    lost thread?

oh, forgot to mention that I dont think past papers are suitable for preparation for assessments before trial and for study at an early stage of your year 12. reading the textbook (not just the exercises but also the paragraphs) is a good idea to understand concepts.
