    BCS Theory

OK, I understand what it is (in terms of phonons etc.) but how does it lead to superconductivity? What is so special about Cooper pairs that enables them to travel without resistance? Any explanation would be appreciated.

HSC on Friday: Who is ready??

No! Sorry to burst your bubble but your Extension HSC exam counts for 50% like most other subjects. The History Extension project is internally marked and therefore counts for 80% of your internal assessment mark. But if you did well in it, then you'll have a good ranking so the HSC won't be so...

    Phrases found in HSC exams

Those are funny... they were already posted somewhere in general though. If you're feeling depressed about ancient, open up the standards packages (available at boredofstudies.org/mirror) and read some of the Band 1 responses - you'll see you have nothing to worry about!

    Archaelogical Evidence

    - Don't forget all buildings are really archaeological evidence - apart from Rome itself, if you still have notes from Pompeii from prelim, there are sources there which can verify most points. - The Prima Porta statue of Augustus (you might know it, he is standing with one arm raised...

Why? They still have to know all four topics.

    Amount of Content...

I don't think so... in addition to one personality, one ancient society, and one historical period, they do a core study about Pompeii and Herculaneum. Basically the ancient syllabus now replicates the modern one.

    Historians!?

Apart from what everyone has said, It is also possible to score full marks for all the Society questions EXCEPT THE LAST ONE (part e, worth 10 marks) without referring to sources. That said, you don't know which topic question (e) will be about, so knowing a few sources for each topic is...

    Ancient Trial Results

Apart from what has already been said about not bagging out someone who has taken the time to try to help others out, Everyone knows that marking standards differ between schools. That is the entire point of moderating assessments according to a school's HSC exam results. If you're so good...

    Greek World 500-440 BC

I think there could easily be a question on Athenian democracy, it's a fairly major part of the topic and they might be running out of questions (because they haven't asked it before, it might be a good choice). I don't really think the Peloponnesian League is large enough to warrant a whole...

Division of Marking in Elective Subjects

Does anyone know what protocol is followed for the marking of subjects which have multiple elective options (eg. English with different focuses for Journey, or Ancient History where each class studies only 4 of 48 possible electives)?. Particularly in history, it seems impossible that every...

    UAI and Percentile

This has been answered lots of times before, but: Statistically people who do more units get better results. However, as the Board has often stated, it is very difficult to determine causality (ie. whether they're doing better because they do more units, or whether it's just that better...
