    Dropping out/Defering

Ah, yes, the dreaded law.... Juris is absolute shit, as are most of the LAW intro units (as both Rob and I can account for). Taking a year off sounds like a smart move to me; there is no point going through a doing a 5 year degree when you might turn around at the end of it all and want to...

    Dropping out/Defering

I was under the impression that seeing a counsellor was mandatory before you dropped out? Because you have to go in and do it, and they wont file the paperwork for you if you haven't? I agree with everything Rob has said. If it came down to it, just defer. And, if you are in first year, keep in...

Working Full Time .... Should I do Three Subjects Next Semester

Because they are all 3cp, then the workload should be okay. And they are staggered (ie. one 100-level, one 200-level etc), so you could proportion the time between them as needed. I haven't done an external subject, but will in second semester, and it seems to me that if it is run as a purely...

Working Full Time .... Should I do Three Subjects Next Semester

What level subjects are they? How many credit points? I guess that is what it comes down to, the amount of workload each one carries with it. I did three subjects last semester and worked 3 days a week, and it was manageable. Especially if you have come this far through your degree working...

    hey law people.....

I added PSY units second semester last year. People do it commonly in Psych. I don't see why you cant add units? It makes no difference; the process for eStudent and the Registrar's Dept is exactly the same for adding and withdrawing.

    hey law people.....

Thats BS! You have until the census date (31 March) to change your enrolment without penalty! I would talk to... I dont know... not the head (because I dont think we have one presently) but is there some admin person? Or the Registrars Department? But I do like your signature ;)

    hey law people.....

LAW205/6: Dont do the readings, dont listen to the iLecture, just read her transcripts (if she hasn't told you about them yet, email her and ask). All she does is read those damn transcripts, so once you have those you are set my friend. I only used the text for research and answering the final...

    hey law people.....

Thats a bit odd.. There isnt a drop-down box of elective units on eStudent (or something)? Maybe you do have to go in... What a pain. But you have to fill out a form stating that you are withdrawing from labour law, before the census date. /end Yvette's v. limited law faculty knowledge ;)

study concurrently at Other Uni ?

Isn't cross-institutional studies what the OP was asking about? Not a concurrent degree? I explained the process for cross-institutional (ie. taking another unit at a different degree). Anyway! :D With law (and it might just be some funky law thing), USYD had 400-level and...

study concurrently at Other Uni ?

I've looked into it for law. Basically, you need to have approval from both mac and the uni you want to go to. Email the administrator or student advisor of the faculty of the unit you want to effectively 'swap' and ask for the coordinator of uni-to-uni transfers (cant remember the official...

    hey law people.....

Those who have done International law (or are currently doing it), say they are enjoying it... I cant really give much perspective because I'm not at all drawn to International law etc (I lump them in the same category as Constitutional law... Oops). I'm doing health law which is awesome...

    was i the only one?!?!

Or, move overseas, and then move back to Australia once you've retired ;) Edit: Steve used to be upfront paying, but then worked out in actuarial studies that it costs more to pay upfront now. I think students should know these things. I just happened to pick the better alternative because...

waaah MQ is introducing Dance units next year, and this is my last year!

When you say dance, do you mean theory, or actual bust-some-moves dance? If it is the latter, that is so cool!

Is O-Week anything worth looking forward to?

As a general rule, only PSY, LAW and some finance units have tutes first week. Never humanities. And no, stud guides aren't necessarily available right now. Wait until first lecture anyway, for a hardcopy and save some trees.

    Law114

Ah, you're doing all those smart people units. Meanwhile, I cruise along on my medio-legal bent, but loving it! I decided to do IT next year, because I'm taking up some PSY units... I dont understand why people cant wait, either... It isnt going to change anything about their program...

Which units are you doing? I managed to get remedies second hand for $80, so thats not too bad. Health law I had to buy the book because its the first time it has been used (but it was only $45). So all in all, this year is cheaper for me than last year  I always sell my books... they...

    Post your timetables!

[/B] This is what iLecture exists for, my dear. You dont have to attend ONE lecture, ever! So, this cuts your campus time down to two days... And just swap into a Wednesday SOC236 tute.... ;) :D n.b. iLecture does mean you do have to spend your evenings listening to them.. but its...

    Law114

Ah yes, the good ol' days when law was a cheap subject.... Now, you need to apply for a bank loan to afford half the books (which you usually dont end up reading)!
