I highly doubt you would have failed Contracts even without knowing your ability. It takes serious effort to fail... And crim is one of the easier law subjects in getting a Credit or better.

Nah. They have a broad % for each unit that they have to give HD's. E.g. one unit might be 2% to 8% HD's. I've seen the figures and I don't remember any unit having a maximum of 2% for HDs

My best mate at uni has a GPA of 4, for both the LLB and B Science in Maths. And nearly all HD's as well...damn him! I heard of a couple people failing first year...but generally very, very rare.

But first year units are generally easier (especially for non-first years) and worth less credit pts, hence slightly cheaper...surely theres an interesting 100-level unit out there somewhere.

Yeah...but they just send one for the early birds. Unless you're loaded, I say defer. Use the money for more important things, like a holiday...or funding some kind of illegal habit.
