Theoretically what would be the best difficulty model of exams in order to produce the best results for a school?
A lot of schools have really easy exams (JRAHS, about 90% of the top 20 schools) while some produce harder papers (Moriah, Grammar).
There are 2 theories from what I have...
It is given that the torque is:
\tau = F \cdot d
(disregarding the angle by which the force is applied, which just results in a trivial trigonometry problem)
How do you prove this formula? I have been told that torque by definition is the distance multiplied by the force. But I don't...
Now, education is supposed to build our skills to help with later life, whether indirectly or directly (school doesn't really prepare us directly). Discuss the value of certain subjects in skill building, I suppose the main areas of focus will be English and Maths, but feel free to discuss about...
Can we associate the the lower scaling of Mathematics Extension 2 to the increased availability of tutors?
Discuss
If not, what can we associate it to?
I don't like the idea of tutoring in general andd hence I don't want to go UMAT tutoring/preperation whatever it might be.
I do realise however a lot of doing the UMAT do go to tutoring.
Will not going to tutoring effect my chances? Does it have any benefit going to tutoring
I mean I see...
So I was doing some sample questions for the UMAT, from this page: http://www.umat.net.au/free-umat-sample-questions/
For the first section I got all but 1 right, and that one was:

Help - Real Analysis
So I read somewhere that:
\sum_{k=1}^{\infty} \frac{\sin k \theta}{k} = \frac{\pi}{2} - \frac{\theta}{2}
However they derived it some weird way that I know nothing about (this is STEP Advanced Problems #43)
Now I set out to derive this, I first though of...
'Rote learning is a cancer towards education. People who purely rote-learn give up their ability to think critically and question the information being handed to them. They accept the information without question and accept it to be true. This blind acceptance is the very basis of why propaganda...
Since I accelerated MX1 I got a mark
X/50
However I will be doing MX2 and hence MX1 will be counting for 2 units, and hence my mark doubles.
So would it become:
2X/100 ?
And thence my mark will always be an even number? (this is significant for me, I need to know)
Ok, I have barely any problems with calculation and problem solving in Physics and Chemistry, however as I have heard the sciences mark really hard the long responses, docking marks for tiny reasons, and it is that reason why it is difficult to get as high.
So I have a couple of questions...
So we all know that irrational numbers can be expressed as an infinite construction of integers in various forms.
I.e:
1+\frac{1}{1+\frac{1}{1+1\frac{1}{1+...}}}= \phi
e=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty} \frac{1}{n!}
\frac{\pi^2}{6}=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} \frac{1}{n^2}
and so on.
Is it possible to...
Here, post questions that you have made/found for Extension 2 Maths, so we can all benefit from new experience to different questions

$Prove that the fraction $ \frac{21n+4}{14n+3} $ is irreducible for every natural number n$
Irreducibility of a Fraction
Is a proof by induction efficient?
Now say in the 2U test tommorow we are given the generic maxima minima with something that is a pain to differentiate due to multiple chain rules etc.
Say that differential is:
u=vw
But because it may contain square roots and stuff, I will square u
u^2=v^2 w^2
Now u and u^2...
Doing 2U trials and the HSCs, I sometimes lose marks over the annuity and loan repayment questions (the more complex ones). I usually lose marks because I miscount the number of times interest is added and such and it frustrates me quite a bit.
So I am going to ask, how do people approach...
