well whether the sentence is suitable should depend on singaporean legislation instead of only half of the australian's point of views. do you agree that?
I really can't admire the media any further. A drug criminals has now been described to be like an Australian hero.
The terms "execute"/ "kill" have now been replaced by "murder".
world war 3 is inevitable. It s just the matter of time.
possibly starting with that taiwan issue draws the battle between China and US. Then japan and russia are involved
There are death penalty about drug crime everyday. If Aus are that opposed to death penalty then the protest should be held everyday. Obviously we only see aussie protesting against singapore for this case, just since an australian was involved.
death penalty is more scary and hence considered as punishment for more severer crimes than life sentence.
Some life-sentenced prisoners might get released after 10-20 years.
That is why death sentence is viewed as ultimate punishment against criminals.
well once again you think aus laws are above than others and aus sense of value are better than others.
why can't someone at BOS think problem objectively ?
Keep in mind there is no international standard on harshness of the sentence.
Light crime in Australia's legal system might be punished 100 times more severely in other country because they think these crimes are 100 times more serious than what is in Australian's view. '
This explains why...
Again, people are using either "the death penalty doesn't serve much purpose" or "death penalty is too harsh or too inhumane".
1. purpose. There z gtta be less australian trafficking drugs to singapore because everyone who watches tv now know how harsh their laws are. That is a good purpose...
I do feel sorry for him. But I think just using the reason of "humanity" to challenge laws of a sovereign nation is stupid and naive. Death penalty is still generally accepted in the majority of the world. You can't force others to accept your own idea.
1 important point to do with...
Singaporean law clearly states that any heroin trafficker caught with amount greater than 15 gram is gotta get death penalty. This law was set ages ago and was applied to all the drug criminals caught in singapore. Why should this guy get exempted from it?
(There are no laws for humanity so...
well the condition to have such power is when the citizen breaks the laws severely. This means if you are a good person then no one has power to kill you.
No one has right to break the law. If he does, government can have the right to take his life in some extreme cases and unfortunately he committed one of the most intolerant crimes under singporean laws.
If he got caught in Korean or China he will be executed as well. As far as I remember...
war in Iraq results in more people's death, if you know how to compare two numbers.
singapore is a much smaller country with much less population than china. This means the management of singapore is million times easier! the permanent position of UN Security council and success of space...
