Is this really true ? Because that is basically exactly what I want to do at uni (B advanced maths/B computer science) but didn't want to go into data science because it's so new and unheard of. So what is the difference between statistics/maths and data science ?

Ok thanks I've got it. I did MX2 and enjoyed it, so I shouldn't have any major problems then. I'll probably still learn python, since I really just want the skillset of a computer programmer rather than just being an expert in whatever is taught in the degree.
