How hard is it to get into a UNSW Co-op?

Hello all, I’ve been looking through some courses recently. I’m now thinking of applying to the UNSW ‘Banking and Finance’ Co-op (when I’m in year 12). This course has an atar requirement of 96 however even with this prerequisite it’s still competitive to get in. This includes interviews and...

BOS light mode > dark mode

Just felt the sudden urge to put my opinion out there. I will be taking the role of affirmative in this debate. Before starting I’d like to define a few key terms: BOS: the Boredofstudies forum Light mode: the default layout of this forum. Contains white background and black text. Dark mode...

    Sub review 👏👏

This is the article if you don’t know what I’m taking about. Personally I have to go with the new AUKUS deal. Better technology, nuclear, and with better partners. Which was the better sub deal in your opinion?

    Does God exist? Part 2

I’m assuming many of you are atheist/agnostic cause it’s 2023 and not many of us go to church anymore. However some of you may believe in a higher power so I just wondered what your stance is on God? For me, there are a few major pitfalls that make religion a non-starter for me. 1) There is no...

Does anyone else suffer from long term procrastination?

Many a night I spend in my room with sole intention of doing one task but leave the room without a single word written or a single question answered. At the start of the term I decided I would keep up with all my subjects and write consistent study notes but I am yet to write any. And lots of...

It’s 5:30 on a Thursday afternoon, how does it always manage to be full? At this rate I’ll be going to Campbelltown library where I can get a seat.

What is the correct spice ratio of an essay?

In order to get the full 20 marks for an essay, an essay needs to be interesting to the marker and demonstrate sophistication. Usually this will involve differentiating your response from the other students in order to set yourself apart (what I call 'spice' or 'flare'). But my question to those...

Preliminary chem: How do I know which isotopes are stable and which ones aren’t?

Given a list of isotopes, how will I know which ones are stable and which ones aren’t? I have a list here and I wasn’t told how to catagorise them. (Since I’m typing on phone, I’ll write the mass number and atomic number like [A, Z] element.) [3, 1] H [20, 10] Ne [232, 90] Th [37, 17] Cl [231...

Thoughts on the Ali Abdaal spaced repetition, active recall, military-industrial complex?

Hello all. I’m assuming a lot of you have watched at least one Ali Abdaal video some time in your studies. What do you think of his now infamous ‘method’ to studying? Basically just spacing out flash card viewings over an increasing period of time (he vouches for the Anki app in its ability to...

Do you start an essay with thesis or hook?

I've been told conflicting information by many teachers. Previously, I've been told that you start your introduction with a hook to lure the reader in, then you gradually work towards your thesis statement, which should be the last sentence of the intro. However, I've recently been told that you...

How do people get invited to parties?

I've never been to a party. Most of my friends are very studious and wouldn't really think of partying. My other friends who do that kind of stuff don't invite me to anything, so that's a non-starter. Hence, I haven't ever gotten involved in one. If I did want to go to a party, how would I get...

    Year 11 - functions

This question is very insidious in that it looks easy but is somewhat difficult (or at least difficult to start off on). How do I solve it?

Can rote memorisation make you a better writer?

This term for English I have to write a creative piece. If I write a few exemplar creative pieces, memorise them, and modify one of them to the stimulus, would I write a better work than if I went in blind? I struggle with creative block a lot when writing so I know this would at least somewhat...

AFR link - does this work for everyone else?

For school I was given this link to the Australian Financial Review. Once I click on it I am able to see today's paper and a backlog of past papers. I'm just wondering if this works for people who don't go to my school: (link below) digitaleditions.smedia.com.au/afr-todays-paper/Default.aspx

Yr 11 Math advanced - factorising

How do I factorise this one. I know it won't factorise like a normal binomial - one of the binomials will have three numbers - I just don't know how to do that.
